Journey in NYC

Hi everyone. Finally able to register. Been a Journey fan since 1976 and have enjoyed every line up so far.

Just saw Journey at the Beacon in NYC both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday night was Neal's, he was REALLY into it and the crowd was loving it. I was in the second row right in front of him. All hi solos were phenomenal. Voodoo Chile/Gypsy Woman was amazing. Jon wailed on the organ and Deen got a small drum solo.
Another highlight was Feeling That way/Anytime. Jon did a great job on vocals as did Steve and Deen sang the last verse. He also sang the first verse of Escape and all of Still They Ride. What a voice.

Wednesday, Neal was a bit more low key, but still amazing. Steve was probably the best I've ever heard him and he did a great job with the crowd. During Feeling That Way, we called a friend and Steve grabbed the phone and sang to her(we were front row), too funny. He sang When You Love A Woman beautifully. My favorite part of the evening, though, had to be Deen singing Patiently, gave me chills. He also sang Still They Ride, again.

FITH, TPIYH and Every Generation all sounded great both nights. Ross did Gone Grazy Tues. and Walks Like A Lady Weds. Mystery Mountain was done on Tues. and Of A Lifetime on Weds. And, of course, the hits both nights.

Thanks for reading, looking forward to some interesting Journey banter with all of you.

Hi jrnyjunky :) Glad you enjoyed the shows and great seats. I had a nice time at the Beacon Theater last year when I saw DDY. Nice theater :)

Were both shows the 3+ hour shows? I'm just curious since each concert seems to be a different length in performing.

I'm planning to see them next week Saturday in Waukegan (IL) and I know this show is suppose to be the 3+ hour show and it's a special weekend for the one year anniversary of the renovation of the theater :)

Hi SuiteMadamBlue.

The Beacon shows were about 2 & 1/2 hours with no intermission, basically leaving out most of the pre-Perry stuff they did this summer.

From what I understand, the last 3+ hours show was the Greek in LA, which I also attended, but you may be getting a special show, you never know with these guys. Either way, you'll love it. Can't wait to hear about it.

Hey JrnyJunky..thanks for the review. Sounds like a gret time was had by all. Augeri also blew my socks off when I saw him this past tour. He hit every note and then some! Since the band isn't planning on touring the U.S. extensively this summer, I think Augeri really pulled out all the stops to hold us fans over.
Augeri is known for playing with peoples' cell phones. Many time at meet n' greets (including the one I attended) he will leave voice mails on various Journey fans answering machines. Imagine their suprise when they hear him on their phone.
Again, thanks for the review.
