There's a fantastic tribute band called Sticky Fingers....I saw them a couple of weeks back. I can sing that part falsetto as I learned as a teenager.....I almost nearly went up to a mic and started doing it. But being a pro I know how much I hate people asking to come up or trying to do it when they are not invited and that's what kept me from doing it. I'd downed a couple by then so it took a lot not to walk up there. (There wasn't any stage either so it would have been easy.

I read an interview many years back in which he stated that the Rolling Stones were one of his favorite groups and that the Stones music was to be played backstage before a concert.

Sorry I can't remember the particulars (date and article) but it is what I remember reading.

Maybe that explains why Journey opened for the Stones during an outdoor stadium concert in Philly years ago. Unfortunately, there was a lot of booing at Journey because a lot of people came to hear the Stones.

I just can't "hear" Perry singing the Stones' music. Not that he couldn't, but it offers no real challenge, in my opinion. Sam Cooke? Yes. Mick Jagger? No.

Perry handled it with aplomb and simply said something to the effect:

"We know a lot of you want to hear the Stones, but there are some here who want to hear us, so we're going to keep playing and the Stones will be out in a bit."

Unless you were there at that particular concert, then you really have no room to comment on it, except from your "belief system" which doesn't really work when it goes up against the facts.

Easy, Colnel. I live in Phila. suburbs so I figure I have some room to comment. Some people here know that and know I was making a "another black eye for Philly" joke.
On the other hand, the bands own liner notes in the boxset say the crowd was apathetic but no mention of abuse. I know a few people who were there.

I lived in Philly for slightly over 4 years and I STILL miss the cheesesteaks! Took my family back there a number of years ago and got to have one again. My wife couldn't believe how good they were either!

Both overrated tourist traps now, unfortunately.
Dallesandros has a huge reputation.....But it's the hole-in-the wall cheesesteak shops dotting the city, especially SPhilly that have the real good "philly cheesesteaks" anymore. Oregon is good one.

Last time I was at Geno's I had brought my wife cuz she wanted to see what all the hubub was... we ordered, my man slapped it together quicker than perry rushing through AWYWI in 1986 and tossed it in a bag before I could say, "Can I get that cut in half, dude?"
Luca Brasi behind the counter looks at me like he wants to put 2 behind my ear and slices right through the bag, wrapper and sandwich. I put my 10 dollar bill away and said, "You know where I can get a good cheeseteak?", and walked away. A little customer service might help people get past the cold, chunky, gristly meat.

The best PIZZA I ever had in Philly was on JFK Blvd in Center City, not far from Arch Street - just between a McDonald's and a strip joint. Damn, I miss the food from those places!

We have a Philly Cheesesteak place around the corner and they're not bad at all, but they're not (IMO) real cheesesteaks although the owner says they are...
