I agree with most of what you said, but not this:
That song sounds absolutely NOTHING like Journey, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who feels differently.
The song is almost puritianical in it's message, Journey doesn't preach.
Preaching's for queers.

I don't even know what he's singing about in this song! Something about Two is forever, one stands apart, love's forgot the pain from the start? Doesn't make much literal sense to me, but it sounds like something Journey could have written. Listen to "One More" from TBF and compare it with Stand Up.

I have.
Both clearly have biblical, or moralistic overtones, but there's just a certain something about "Stand Up" that makes me wince as I listen to it. Minus the cheezy melodramatic opening narration, "One More" out and out kicks ungodly celestial ass.
"Stand Up" to me, comes off very puritanical and gay and even embarassing at times.
I can't put my finger on it...alot of Perry's solo stuff is the same way.

Because he didn't have Neal to add balls to his tunes.

Ha. I dunno, NIG, Brewster does express some nice guitar work on that track.
I think that the chorus is soo ham-handedly moralistic that anything Neal would've contrbuted would just be in vain.

I am with you on this one...this is yet another Perry solo song I cannot stand.

A lot of his songs seem to be "missing something" for me as well. Maybe his vocals were spot on, but something else would seriously detract from many of his songs...especially on FTLOSM.

One More is IMO the best lyrically written song they have ever done. They talk of Armegeddon, the beast rising from the fired water, 666 and the whole deal...10,000 angels, etc.

of course Christians don't buy into the 10,000 angels, and the mormons have some stupid shit number like 144,000..They just picked that out of the air. This coming from a group who won't drink beer, wine, or Coca Cola, or smoke or take aspirin...Good God.

One More is a great song lyrically.....Also, I don't like the song Stand Up at all, this is one of the ones I hit SKIP on...But to me it did sound like with a little work it could be a Journey song.

Deano, have you seen the South Park with the Mormon family? One of the best episodes ever.

Yeah J I have. But was it better than Jimmy's boner problem and the chick doing Open Arms at the talent show? or Phil Collin Mt, complete with 1.5 gradient! Or Cartmans pursuit of a band, and Kyle saying, "we need to get through the hard times, like Journey!"

Personally, thanks to my good friend NIGGY, I am now all Family Guy all the time.

Jimmy's boner problem was the best episode ever. From Nutgobbler jumping into Jimmy's arms and "Up Where We Belong" to the whispering girl singing "lying beside you...hear in the dark...."

Family Guy is currently the best show out there. I thought the first season back was a little shaky but this season has been the best ever....Especially Peter and the FCC - SIDEBOOB!

Last night's SP had Mr. Garrison trying to get fired so he could sue the school, so he shoved a gerbil up his lover's chute in class. Crazy...

After the FCC episode ended, I immediately turned to my friend and said it was the best episode yet. It was soo funny. Family Guy has evolved nicely over the years from an initial Simpsons-knock off to currently being the funniest show on TV.

You too??

I was so happily surprised when I heard that.....it is far superior to the CD track, hands down.

I like how he took the song out of the falsetto range and put a fuller, richer sound to it....he sounds very relaxed; not forced.....

See what happens when there's no pressure?

I know where posting about the ROR tour is going to take this thread. But I saw the tour and have a bootleg and I like em both!!!

Problem is Yogi, that was a JOURNEY concert and tour, and O Sherrie, Foolish Heart and Strung Out were all played, and that is bullshit, especially when he also had Stand By Me and Reach Out included too. let's see, 5 songs, and we could have had 5 JOURNEY songs instead. Hell, 6 if you count Jailhouse Rock too.

Proof Perry was in it for himself! Neal should have beaten his ass right then and there.

You're antagonizing.

Now back to your Journey forum to discuss how great Steve Augeri is. LOL

I don't think Andrew should have brought this thread over to the Perry Board if he wants it to remain "civil" over "here". Sorry Andrew...just shut this one down and we can talk Perry in OhSherries "New Interview Thread".

[quote="Rock'ndeano"]I just loved this classy comment:

ML: Do you see yourself going back into the studio?

SP: “I've been thinking about the good side about this whole split up with the band that happened in May of '98; which is that I could not be kept under contract while they replaced me with a sound-alike or whatever he was..

I was actually pulling for him early in the interview, but when he dropped this bomb....

Then he has to say "the band was on tour 3 months ago, and we aren't speaking."
What is up with the comment "whatever he was" Augeri has been more than respectful of perry and his history with the band,
He even was respectful to him and shook his hand at the wof
Augeri has busted his butt to sing and perform and maintain the legacy of the band and songs. He has vocally made those songs his own and has contributed his voice,, and talent to the band.
Perry needs to grow up and move on and
Leave Steve Augeri alone
