I am recording a Journey song tomorrow. I get to do one song, and have been practicing, Beyond the Clouds. Now THIS is definately a Board buster, to get something to talk about. I WILL post a link to hear it, once it's done.

It will be done in studio, with all the production I desire. I get to produce it too. I expect it will be up for your listening "pleasure" in a week.

Hey, looking forward to this... hearing your voice. Maybe I can put up my singing version of LIGHTS if anyone's interested. One of the things I did to prepare for singing was to do karaoke versions of songs by singers that I really admired. Think of it like going to vocal school. I primarily studied Steve Perry, Freddie Mercury, and Peter Cetera/Jason Scheff. I ended up with some good ones, some terrible ones, and some so so ones. Believe it or not, I found SEPARATE WAYS imfrigginpossible to sing. That one was one tough song to sing... and it doesn't sound like it would be, but it is. Doing all of this really made me appreciate my fav singers EVEN MORE, if that's possible.

Right, Deaner (Just watched Youngblood, great Dean nickname). Who can forget the tragic tale of JrnyTool getting tossed into the clink after he cleaned the clock (nearly fatally so) of a heckler who had the audacity to giggle at JR's rendition of WCTNGOF? :)

It's funny, but it just depends on your voice. There are some songs I think I can sing really well, and others that I can't come close to. And it will be little things that will stand in the way...not just range.

Taking Bio Medical Technology. At tech school in Mckenzie( only place to offer it). Will work on Medical eq. when I'm out. Big market over here. The college I was going to was going to put me tru a bunch of different class, and not get me close to what I wanted. Plus add on over a year of classes too.-ERIC

Ok, I am going to give this a shot. You are attending Technical school in McKenzie, TN. I assume Medical EQ is short for horses; as in equine. Then after that, you threw me a screwball, and I corkscrewed myself into the ground. There are papers I have written in college that were easier to complete than reading some of your MR.com posts.

Listening now....not too bad.
Your voice, while pleasant, is unexceptional and the delivery is slightly lacking in the conviction department.
Needs more of Perry's trademark heart-churning expressive soulfulness.
Hmm...your voice sounds oddly familiar.
Have you posted soudbytes of yourself singing Journey songs over on BackTalk?
All in all, pretty decent.

I don't recall if I posted there or not. Maybe like 2 years ago...I did have a link in my sig for a while. Thanks for listening! I recorded that for my wife at like 2am using a karaoke track. She really enjoyed it and I guess that's all that matters anyway. :)

I think you did a great job. You definitely have a Steve Perry-sounding voice... I was really impressed! Nice job...more people than your wife will like this, I guarantee it. Next, I want to hear some of your originals!

I know what you mean! That song SEPARATE WAYS is a VERY VERY DIFFICULT song to pull off. I didn't realize it until I tried recording it myself. The operative word is TRY! It was then that I realized Perry sings his ass off on it, and he makes it sound so easy... but that's not the case!
