Steve and Neal have both hinted in interviews at there having been some substance use. I have a clip from an ROR interview in Japan where they are obviously high on something. I don't know of any rock musician(not to say there aren't any) that haven't at least dabbled in some sort of substance. It's not, and shouldn't be, considered acceptible behavior, but why would anyone expect them to be perfect? They're music certainly is, and that's what makes us fans.

I`ve seen the Japan interview,Sherrie and I think they were just drunk.Sure,we`ll never know what did they slip in those glasses of wine... If they did.

Anyway,I don`t belive that using drugs should be considered a crime,although it`s the most dangerous road anyone could take.
Some of the rockstars have a problem admitting they used drugs while some are bragging about it.I guess Steve Perry is indeed a very private guy.

I can`t help smiling when I think about all those amazing songs of the 70s and 80s that were maybe written on...cloud no.9. And I`m not talking just about Journey songs.

Steve must have gotten beyond whatever it was because according to Kevin Shirley he's squeaky clean now.

I wonder if some of those songs could have been a great as they are if there hadn't been a little chemical inspiration involved. :lol:

Hell, even that three chinned douchebag Scott Stapp was arrested last night at LAX for being hammered..on his honeymoon.

Now wait a minute..."Excessive amounts" leads to ending up out of the tiles which isn`t the way Perry could`ve got up on stage every night.I don`t think he could`ve put together a two hour show if he would`ve had "excessive amounts" of alcohol in his blood.
Maybe you mean he had something to drink after the show.
But considering that by 1986 he was already in a clean vocal regime (no cigarettes & alcohol) I highly doubt he was drinking on tour.
The Japan ROR interview must be just a get loose moment.All three of them were buzzed.

You're right, it is ancient history, I was just curious if anyone else had ever heard this Perry rumor, Neal admitted to drinking alot to get through the ROR sessions, I wonder whether Perry could have possibly delt with the tour in the same manner and still manage to perform at a decent level.

Yup, they were spandex and he did say that. The outfit was a little too feminine for my taste, but he did look hot in it.
