Personally I think on this go round they took contributions from everybody, good, bad or in between and picked the best from each. If this means a Jon song that's better than Believe got left off, they probably figured it was okay because of that Neal song that got cut in favor of GC.
The direction of this record really was different. And Believe isn't THAT bad a song, come on.
I am going to have to agree with you. I don;t think Beleive is that bad of a song. I think that the songs on Tall Stories were very strong as far as songwriting and melody and chorus. I ahve to agree I am not sure about Live and Breathe. I like the begining of it, It loses me soemwhere after
that,. I remember reading soemwhere that Neal and Jack Blades had
written Kiss Me softly and sent it to Steve and he rewrote part of it.
Steve co-wrote Faith in the heartland also and I think that is a strong song. I am sure even thought the band is democracy Neal and Jon have mroe of a say in the songs that make the cd, I don;t see how they would have put something on the cd just to make Steve happy if they didn;t
like or think it was a good song. Neal said in the Kpoi interview that Steve was an accomplished guitar player and he was playing on the cd and tour. I think they are still feeling out what his talents are and
songwriting. The fans are used a certain kind of songs and I think
Steve in all fiarness needs a chance to use his talents and
songwritintg to find that balance. I donlt see Neal and Jon
just going along with anything just to make Steve happy.
I think the guy has talent it just needs to be nourished.
They cut alot of songs after the firsrt part of the tour. Mostly due to fan
pressure.
