This is exaclty the reason why it will be hard to reopen and not have it shut down right away. Mocking people who like Andrew and calling non perry fans nuts.
Certain factions will sear the forums with retorts and though they will be deserved, the HOTS of the place will achieve their ultimate goal of supressing attention to Journey that is non-perry related via closure of the Journey board.

That's the difference between us. I want a dissenting opinion. I don't want "Journey is the best" or Steve Perry IS Journey." What does that prove?

You "people" need a place, a vehicle for your agenda. This has been the place for that. All we did was give an opinion backed with facts, and dispelled your "Perry of scientology BS" and you spin and scream and run to Andrew. Yeah, I was tough on you all, but, trust me, it wasn't like that all the time. It was a building wave of annoyance, that in real life would put me in the Loony Bin.

Andrew will make a decision and whatever the Hell it is, I will abide by it. Yes, a big part of me is still going to want to roll up their collective asses, but I think I will just pretend they are not there. There has been nothing really to talk about lately, hence the gy and look a like threads which to me, are Hall of Fame threads in their own rights. However, now with a tour starting up, music should retake control of the Board.

As for the complainers and whiners, that's a tough call, Andrew. I know who the complainers are, and why they complain.

I don't see why there can't just be a "three strikes and you're banned" rule. That could be the policy for every forum. I have seen the politics forum get VERY heated, and I think Andrew has banned some nuts who post there.

But that was less a "preemptive" strike than a flat out cheap shot taunt that she knew she could get away with posting because at the time Andrew was very disinclined to sympathize with jrny-oriented posters. It was a thread started under the very thin guise of keeping jrny posters out of there while drawing us in. I admit, Dave and I bit but kept it classy. Neither of us lost our cool. Nor did Monker....But you knew all this, right?

There are what, 20 posters who are common here? That is 60 strikes...Who is going to write our names on the chalk board?

And secondly, You have one member who has 5, count'em, 5 names. he gets 15 strikes? And then, being the mutant that he is, he will just keep creating new names.

Well, Andrew can tell who has multiple usernames. If someone's an expert at disguising this, then I guess they "win". But only one troll I know of has been able to do this without Andrew being able to tell. A blanket IP ban should do the trick.

Well, I just think it would be a shame to close the most popular forum on the site because of a few people who like to disrupt it. I predict that they will just find other forums to disrupt, whether it be here or other Journey sites.

A few observations from this recent-comer.

1. Whatever you have to do Andrew, do. Thank you for all of the work you put in...over the past year you've become such a great source of info for me on the music I like...I respect your decision and understand it completely.

2. Now for the disappointment part. I'm disappointed because despite all the BS that went on, I did get a lot of great info from the people in the Journey forum. They're knowledgeable and ready to share that knowledge. It's unfortunate that a few cannot act more like adults, but that's life. I imagine even Gandhi was a prick sometimes...human nature.

3. Maybe it's because I'm a late-comer, but it seemed to me that the strife got worse once the "Steve Perry" forum was created. Before it was just bickering. After, it added a whole new childish "you're on MY side of the room" bit to it. My suggestion would be, if you choose to reopen it...to merge the two forums back to one. Besides, there's not enough Perry stuff to talk about to merit its own forum, unless you get into the whole "mustache on or off" silliness.

4. Whatever happened to just banning the troublemakers? Seriously...PM them and say "last warning" and then, if they act up again, they're gone. Across the board. I understand that'd eliminate some people that I actually like and that we all like...but you know what, across the board...if they can't behave they're gone.

I'm not telling you how to run your boards...because you do a bang-up job as it is, and like I said, I understand this decision. But maybe this stuff can be worked out rather than just eliminated.

My two cents. Don't spend it all in one place.

It doesn't really matter if this forum is closed down. At one point this forum was a place where actual discussions could take place. Then it became a place where one could not have one single thread about an actual Journey discussion without personal issues filtering in.

After about the 50th time of reading Andrew threaten that everybody better behave or else and there was a half-day of "oh, I'm so sorry, we will all behave" and then things returned exactly as they had been, this forum became more trouble that it was worth to participate. I scan the topics a couple times per week to see if there is anything noteworthy, however, it is sad to say that in my opinion this forum has became basically irrelevant as a source of actual discussion or information relating to Journey, the band. I don't quite see the point of leaving a thread open to discuss the closing of the forum. Threats without consequence have no meaning.

With phpBB you can ban IP addresses. Goodbye all 5 names at once.

I scan the topics a couple times per week to see if there is anything noteworthy, however, it is sad to say that in my opinion this forum has became basically irrelevant as a source of actual discussion or information relating to Journey, the band.

Well, this is where I am confused.

This forum, when there is activity on the band, is by far the BEST source of info anywhere on the Net. We have some of the most knowledgeable people on the band right here. We know more than BT does and it's moderators!

There are only about 5 people here, who ever start a thread. The rest of you critique us, that you don't like the topic at hand. It's like the people who actually try to kick start the board, are being evaluated on the topic. Look, there isn't much happening right now. We posted some silly threads, like "Gay" or "looka like" but that was done in fun. Once the tour starts, there wouldn't be that kind of thing happening.

I find it funny, the people who don't like the threads are the people complaining. tell you what; Either YOU start a thread, or simply ignore the ones you have no interest in.

LAWoman, you can always go over to BT and play Head2Head for the 4,783rd time....or talk about "letting Ross feel the love"and talk about how Only the Young was played in your hometown Lowes, I don't care. That kind of crap is insulting. I myself, think I have created some noteworthy threads, and yes, some idiotic ones. TNC, the same. Outside us, who really ever "thinks up something?"

Instead of bashing those that DO post something, to enable us to talk about anything, feel free to think for yourselves and create a thread, or simply ignore the ones you don't like.

AH...but the key, the absolute KEY to this is did they both handle their own battle without crying to Andrew? I would surmise so.
Is it a thing of the past, IE is it still going on? No. Also, neither involved or recruited 3rd parties.

Obviously we all become last word freaks, but these 2 in the Nugent brawl kept it Marquess Of Queensbury and never took it personal enough that they had to brawl every time they saw oneanother in here.

My point is, neither of you complained(I respect the hell out of you Angie, for not being a wimp), and it was forgotten. I have dusted it up with TNC(forgotten), 28(forgotten), Angie(forgotten), HOTS(forgotten), shadowsong(forgotten), Moondog(forgotten), Ace(forgotten), Hell, I have mixed it up with everyone ...and so on.

The complaining thing is no different than the Stern deal with regards to the FCC. If you don't like it, don't read it. People are here by there own volition. No one is forcing you to read this. That is what BT is for. I feel flowerdeano coming on...real soon.
