Journey on American idol

Postby Abitaman » Wed May 17, 2006 11:07 am

Elliot took on Open Arms on AI. I thought it was pretty bad. One reason, I do not like Elliot, the other it was nowhere near Journey quality. Katerine would have done 10 times better on it.
any thoughts on top 2? I think Taylor and Kat-ERIC

I like Elliott. Katherine...yikes! Taylor is the winner.

I hated it. I loved the way Corey and Clay both did it in their season, but Elliot just doesn't cut it. Katherine is the best singer left on there and she could have done the song justice, but without Chris, there's nothing left of the show for me.

Nothing left. I have been a Taylor fan since day one. Got his cd on the way too.

Taylor did best over all tonight, the songs fit him to a tee. Kat had the best song of the night with "Over the Rain bow" and was second. Elliot was pretty bad on two of his three. Just my opinion.

I sure thought it would be Taylor, Chris and Kat in top 3.=ERIC

I really thought it would come down to Chris and Katherine. Taylor is OK, but when he sings I always think of sitting in an upscale lounge listening to a good singer cover songs. He just doesn't strike me as a STAR. If there is any justice in the music/show biz world Kat will be on Broadway and Chris will be a huge Rock Star.

Taylor has brought something back to music that has been missing, the fun! He gets up there and has fun. He doesn't take himself as MR rock star.
The week before Chris got voted off, my wife and I were sitting watching the show, and I told her Chris is getting the big head. The very next week, he talks about his choice of underwear. I think justice was served, by Chris getting voted off. I think he will do great, I'll but his cd too. But I think it should serve as awake up call for him.
Wish I could say I like Elliot, but I can't. I don't like his style of singing or his moves  . But I do think he is talented, but hopefully not enough to win.-ERIC

Yes he was the guy who replaced Ross on bass, for recording and touring on the ROR cd and tour. Dude was cool in concert, all over the stage.-ERIC

The one thing the judges failed to mention when Elliot sang Open Arms was that he reversed the order of the lyrics, "hoping to see/what your love means to me" and "nothing to hide/believe what I say". I'm surprised Randy Jackson didn't say anything about it! He did say that Journey was the best rock and roll band ever (AMEN!)

I would have liked to see Chris & Taylor as the top 2. Elliot is good, but he doesn't move from in front of the microphone. Sorry, I can't get any McPheever - she cops an attitude when the judges give their 2 cents worth. Watch her facial expressions change and her body language. MHO is that she acts as though they can't possibly be talking about her when the constructive criticism is aimed at her. Too much of an attitude from someone who can't remember the lyrics to a song and wants to be an American Idol.

You gotta 'own' the stage when you are out there in front of an audience. Connect with the people you are singing too....

May the best person win!

Well, they are much more harsh with Kat than anyone else. IMO, Elliott should have been booted long ago. Taylor is my favorite.

Deano must have loved AI last night -- a Journey song AND a Bruce song. All that was missing was a Chicago tune.

Didn't see it, never will.

Would rather watch the WORST Seinfeld rerun.
"I love almost everybody."---Rocky Balboa 1990
"Let's reform this thing.Let's go out and get some guys who want to work and go do it"--Neal Schon February, 2001
"I looked at Neal, and I just saw a guy who really wants his band back"-JCain 2/01

hype is about......Then again that's how
I first felt about Seinfeld

Didn't watch it...and won't. The show is rigged.

Chris got royally screwed. There's a major internet petition for him, signed by over 55,000 angry fans. Taylor is a joke. Katherine (skank) is said to have a family member who works for Fox. So something stinks.

Not to mention Paula, who has drug issues, Randy, who is busy making a fool of his dawg pound joke self, and Simon, who is rude and never gives any constructive criticism.

Idol is over as far as I'm concerned. I watched the show when I could, but no more. I've got better things to do....like having a life...and making money.

I believe you said, right here on MR, that you didn't like Corey Clark's performance that year. But, of course, now you change your story, as you surreptitiously attempt to fit back in on the Journey board, thinking nobody will remember just how disingenuous you really are. And if you like feminine boys, I guess Clay Aiken is your man.
