It is tough to tell when somebody does that because they usually sing soft along with the tape. I heard on the radio maybe last fall about one of those Simpson chics doing that and no one knew it through the whole tour until the tape had a glitch. I hope that's not true about Journey, because I thought they were in a different league than that. If this is really true, it should be exposed. Who wants to get ripped off paying for a live performance and get lip synch. Hell, I could sit in my car and play a tape.

first of all did Milli Vanilli actually tour in the same capacity and at the same types of venues...NO. It's amazing that as soon as there might be an off night, and I heard one last summer, the vultures go in for the kill. All vocalists have a bad night.....Jon isn't always on the mark either, heard that last summer too!

Augeri has garnered a bit of a cult following and for some people that means he needs to be torn down. Good Luck with all that.

Hey jackass, I have been a fan of Augeri's since his very first show in Oakland in 98. Don't try to paint me as a "person who needs to tear down." Rather, I would like to be known as someone who has character and honesty, even if it hurts me, I believe NO BAND is bigger than Rock n Roll, and this just reeks to high heaven.

FYI...Journey's ROR tour in 1986 used "backing tracks" on "Suzanne" during the chorus.

The chorus sounded EXACTLY like the record - and, it was off by approx. 1 second.

To say that Augeri does the lip synch thing means you have to be able to prove that. Being such a serious accusation, one has to have valid evidence. Bootlegs are not adequate proofs.

I agree completely. Journey did not handle the situation properly at all...even if it is only the limited capacity I am aware of. On the grander scheme it is downright dispicable. I never would have thought Journey would "cover it up" instead of shooting straight.

I am glad it is out in the open. I think for the most part it is NOT the thruth. Even if it is, sure they should have come clean. Augeri has a problem, take some time off. But just the opposite is happening, more and more shows. Better chance of getting caught by playing more shows. that just doesn't add up.

At the end of that day, when you boil it down, it's 2 people who claim to absolutely believe this thing. No one else and nowhere esle (outside this forum) is it even a question. All because Augeri had a rough tour start last summer which the band freely admits.
