Why the FUCK is Journey opening for Def Leppard....who is an equal peer of their's. Why would they allow themselves to be perceived as an opener to thousands of fans this summer.

I'm still pissed about this!

I don't know. Maybe they aren't as good "live" as DL.

My understanding is they ASKED for it. If you follow some of Deano's ideas, it is easy to make the leap that if Steve is having some vocal issues than it is a good idea to get off stage early and get better rest for his voice.

I don't see how it provides more rest. you get the same amount of time off versus going on later, as you go on early again the next night.

Yeah...how is it more rest?

Why would they ask for it? I've heard The Leps demanded it and Schon finally agreed rather than "chucking the whole tour".

Why (IN THE LONG RUN) is a short GH set better for the band then rest and new material?

Why did they change from taking the year off...to...embarking on a huge tour?

Last tour with Augeri. That's why. Cash in. Then get ready for the Farewell Finale.

Except it is still earlier in the evening. Steve could walk off the stage at 8:30, warm down, shower and hit the rack by 11 instead of 1:00. That could add a couple extra hours of rest...

But he could still sleep later the next day...I don't get it, unless you are talking about ones' biological inner clock.

That could be true. And I do think the Leps have more reason to be headlining. They have a management team that is actually promoting them. And they do have a brand new CD as opposed to Generations which is a year old already.

I don't think Journey has any desire to make new music. Generations was done in the most effortless way possible. And it came together as a fluke. But I do think there is merit to the idea of reaching a new audience with this tour. And since touring is the only thing Journey seem willing to do, it makes sense to ensure the most successes on the road.

That is my biggest question. ESPECIALLY with Steve obviously struggling. Maybe HH was right and they still NEED to tour...

If they need the money they need the money I guess. I could care a less though...as a fan I can be as unrealstic and idealstic as I want to be...and I get excited about new albums and tours where new albums are played.

Maybe, between the two bands, the Leps are more deserving of the headline spot, BUT....then just don't tour with that band. I would be complaining if they were opening for a Bon Jovi or an Aerosmith too. I don't think Journey should open...I don't think it created a positive image in concert goers minds. AND, of course, there is the real issue of playing in a blinding sunset versus the energy of pure darkness....
