I have over 200 emails on this topic, many from BT people. I would say it's 50-50 on whether they support my claim or flatout turn a deaf ear. By the way, they aren't all pure and angelic over there either! I have read about 100 emails, and I would say at least 40 have told me to "STFU, or stop making shit up. Too funny.

Steve's talking vioce was not even one bit raspy that day. I still believe he could bring it. Yes, he's older but Deano pointed out that the older crowd of singers still is out there. You all know if Steve didn't believe he could bring it he would never come back. He will be back!!

Perry made Journey great!!! This current line up is still able to be singing & touring & making money off the songs that Perry co-wrote, sang, & made famous first, so I hardly think that line up of Journey is destroyed as you say.

Alright... I'll elaborate:

Not replacing SP in 86 or not recording from 86-97 destroyed any commercial hopes Journey could have. They went from a multi-platinum band to a band that needed the record company to shove a record (TBF) down the public's throat.

TBF was shipped platinum... it didn't sell platinum.

If Journey continued to make records after a brief hiatus (2-3 years) in the late 80's they would have a shot these days.

If they replaced SP in 1986 I'd be willing to bet they'd have success similar to what Van Halen had after replacing DLR.

The public was receptive to Journey in the 80's... they aren't now. SP will put a few more asses in the seats live, but as far as record sales go, Journey records are just a fart in the wind.

EDIT: After thinking about it, I'd be even less inclined to listen to a SP fronted record if they crawled back to Sony. Sony dropped the ball BIG TIME with Arrival.

I personally DO believe Steve Perry will sing again.....AND hopefully do a small tour of major cities. When I was at the star this month and met the man I can guarantee you his voice showed none of the raspyness of the past few years. He sounded great and was talking about "practicing the scales to see what hes still got" which is a direct quote from Mr Perry himself.

In my opinion he has a big surprise in store for all the critics out there who say hes "lost his voice" ... we'll see about that!

Those videos of your surprise-meet-and-greet are priceless....I'm tellin' ya, Steve is power-walking down the sidewalk, and at approx 20-30 feet, he says in a LOUD voice: "Is there a STAR around here?? OH THERE IT IS!!"....I mean, his voice is booming - and clear as a bell...you compare that to him SITTING DOWN in the BTM...yeah, his voice sounded awful in that.

IMO, the only way for Steve to re-gain what he lost is to do a lot of power-walking up and down hills (that's what I do) and some sort of Kick-boxing....the voice resonates from the diaphragm, NOT the throat, so just like anything else:

If you strengthen the core group of muscles, then the "stronger" you'll be: in sports, music, etc.

I dunno....

If his SPEAKING voice is that clear, I can't help BUT to wonder about the "other one"...
