OK, I want to know which other bands 'sweeten' ( thats the favourite word, right ? ) their lead vocals ( read : replace their lead vocals ) in their concerts..??

We hear that a lot, so c'mon let's hear some bands who do....

Please don't give me the crap about legalities, slander, etc rubbish...

You only get into a legal wrangle IF what you claim is false and without proof....

And please, no obscure, crappy garage bands or some shit...

If the fans didn't want to listen to Journey, Journey will not be on the road....these guys with Steve Augeri are on the road and have been that way since Perry left, because there are thousands of fans out there who STILL want to hear the music...

The fans dont go for FREE concerts, they pay hard earned money to go watch their favourite band 'live'....the bottom line is LIVE....

Hell, I understand if the synths or BGV's have been 'souped' up technically and previously programed, but if the lead vocalist is not 'bringing it' up there, there should not be a concert in the first place....

How can a fan be satisfied if he knew the lead vocalist from his fav band was not singing live at a concert, mystifies me....

Ray, it bothers me when I see anyone willing to settle for flagrant deception. What the hell is wrong with this world? Everybody has bills to pay and if you like to think of yourself as a solid citizen, then why would you want to give money to someone who is ripping you off? They are not solid citizens if they can do that to you or your wallet. The only place I've seen full blown lip synching by a singer other than Journey is a few old black 50's soul acts and those guys are what, pushing 70? There may be others doing it now, but there's something odd about Journey doing it. It feels different. Maybe more of a rip off because I believed in their skill level for so long. It doesn't feel good to be fooled and pay cash for it.

I'd like to know the answer to that specific question too, rubiconman??

And even if other bands are in the practice of lip synching the "lead vocals" on a regular basis at concerts, that certainly doesn't make it right for Journey to do it.

Journey has lowered it's standards to just follow along with what "other bands" are doing in the music business.

Instead of being the type of band that "stands out" & "Keeps their standards high", NOW they have just become like all the other bands that do this kind of practice. That is not a good thing!

Don't forget that the show you are going to see has every member playing music and singing live with backing filler tapes and synth stuff since the beginning. It's SOP in R&R and preformance art. Sorry you have never mixed live stuff or worked for an act, but this is all a given in the industry. The Mille Vanilli thing was shcoking because they didn't sing, the backup singers did. Did you know that all the keyboard parts in VH live shows were played under the stage by Alan Fitzgerald [Fitz]

In the case of Def Leppard he adapted the same way someone would who loses a leg,some become runners with legs missing!Plus he is still playing!
In the case of Dance music this is often mimed Madonna Micheal Jackson as its hard to sing and dance.
In regards th VH having a keboard player no problem,BUT... if Edddie is miming his guitar parts that would be diffrent or Sammy cannot sing so his miming diffrent again diffrent.Most of these bands made it because of there songwriting and musician abilities if they no longer have them do thay have a right to trick people?
Most of the bands who use tapes for vocals in rock have two thing in common,they are getting old and have lost or are losing there abilities to perform as they once did. Plus they are not telling you they are using tapes,whats to hide are they ashamed...own up and give us the chance to decide if this is the show we want to spend our money on.Maybe i am a minority but it would make a diffrence to me.

100% spot on,i am stunned that some people dont mind that they may be lipping the vocals?????? What is the rock world coming to like i said get Perry back and have him lip to Houston 81 then you can have the original band sounding better than ever.

Hi i dont want to belive it either,but a friend who writes for a magazine and went to reveiw Sweden Rock said quote ' If we had known the band were going to mime we would not have booked them!' this is from the Sweden Rock promoters! Also i asked him if it was true and did he notice anything odd{take into mind he loves Journey and has no reason to lie) he said apart from the guitars and drums the vocals were all on tape and handled by Kevin Elson.He evan said the band were not evan bothering to mime that well?
I do respect your opinion not to belive this and i hope there is a explanation and i can love Journey like i used to but at the moment it is very worrying. :shock:
