Key Change

Postby knox » Mon Jun 19, 2006 12:06 am

While listening to "Easy To Fall" yesterday, I was reminded how much I love Key Changes.

Right after Steve sings "Still the voices call to you, it's time to say the words unspoken", the key changes and the strings rise to the occassion. This is my favorite point on the album Trial By Fire.

Following closely is Neal's stunning work on Can't Tame The Lion. That song begs to be turned waaaaay up when it comes on.

Knox I couldn't agree more.
That line just lights up the whole
song and sets it a blaze.
Then having it end very mellow like.
Just perfect!
This is my fave track off Trial By Fire
closely followed by It's Just The Rain.

My favorite part of TBF is the end.

Actually, I like MOL, and still can't believe I Can See It In Your Eyes was left off.

While it is not my favorite Journey album, it has some bright spots. I skip over more songs than I listen to, but those bright spots really shine.

Yeah, and 10 years later I doubt Journey with Perry (as some people seem to be clamoring for) could even improve upon that.

I totally agree with you, NIG. Perry's voice changed over the years. I notice it most dramatically from Escape to Frontiers, then you really hear it on ROR.

While some like him in 78 better, others like him in 96 better. Being in his mid 50's, I doubt he could sustain much singing, even a short tour. This is only one man's opinion, mind you. I don' think he will return to the limelight.

It's been addressed here before but never satisfactorilly. Wanna know how/why the damn thing (which I'm not a huge fan of anyway. Yes I would like TBF better with it of course) did not make it on?
See the front page, scroll down under Miscellaneous is a tab called Inside Story. A fascinating a frustrating exposition of this bullshit that goes on with Japan. When I look at the change that Andrew for all intents and purposes spearheaded with Arrival I get smug satisfaction knowing that Japan was left w/ out WGW and NCC (top 3 on the album) after originally being scheduled to have 13 tracks to the rest of the world's 12.
