Neither of them have put out any new music in recent memory either...not sure why Journey is largely ignored yet people are still making a big deal out of Motley's oldies tour. (I mean ignored in the general sense, not this particular story) And of course the Who are legends, but now only have half of the band, and have toured 3 or 4 times since 1999, why is it a big deal they're going to go on tour again? *shrug*

Hey Rich, welcome (back) to the fray!

Do you think the radio station will update since BT is now allowing discussion even though it has not been officially addressed?

And what is your take on the whole thing? I have not had time to read the thread at BT today...

This could be the new thing, why not let the fans go up on stage and pretend they´re the lead singer standing behind the mic sounding just like the original lead singer.
Or even better, you could choose your own show....yeah that would be awesome, tonight you get to hear AC DC perform If you want blood featuring the late Bon Scott - yeah we know he´s dead but we still got the tapes and you know what! Brian Johnson´s voice isn´t all that good today so the fans will only love to hear Scott again.
Live in the future will be with click track, protools, machines, tapes and yes I almost forgot - throw in a few guys that looks like they´re playing.
When I started listening to music,I was amazed of how good certain bands/singers could sing or play but today it isn´t funny anymore to go to a live show coz 50% of it is fake.
I remember 20 years ago when I saw TNT here in my hometown and the bassist and guitarist stood there doing backing vocals like they were 5 guys and all sounded like the lead vocalist Tony Harnell....geez,that was embarrasing.
I know Journey used background vocals on tape on the Raised on Radio tour but to use tapes for the lead vocals,oh man.......that gives me the Britney Spears/Milli Vanilli shivers all over.
I heard this story from another guy down at Sweden Rock Festival and he doesn´t know Svante who wrote about it in his blog,so that´s enough for me to get in from 2 directions.
I don´t care if he sang 80% or 20% of the show,a lead singer should always sing live or otherwise they should cancel.
I know many fans over at BT thinks it´s ok if Augeri really would be lipping and that scares me even more coz it´s never ok to do it.
I just cant listen to the studio albums any longer with Augeri, this thing took away all the magic this band had.
Journey is not just a band,it´s a way of life!

Dare I post anymore or will the Pit bull and his like get me?

Thanks, Kaj for what you said. I am one who believes in the Real Deal onstage Live. If performers want to resort to enhancements, then let the public know ahead of time before they purchase these expensive concert tix. If they aren't up to par, then maybe it is time to retire...just like any job (ya know, like the old boss who is still on the payroll, yet doesn't really do the job anymore - time to get someone else - keep some dignity?)
I'm still unsure of it all, but it bothers me that artistic integrity is in serious trouble these days...people not even caring about receiving an honest performance? Just didn't know there was so much of this "technological help" going on in the Rock world.

No one will "get you" for having an opinion (whatever that may be) and for delivering it in a cohesive way on this board.

Dude, after listening to several samples from your site, I have to say I think you're barking up the wrong tree. The clips in "Be Good to Yourself" taken from three different venues, have different stresses and fluctuations in numerous areas. The version of "Faithfully" where the CD supposedly goes dead - if Augeri is singing, I don't see how you could be less than impressed with the performance. It sounds great to me, and I've seen them many times.

I think you're hearing what you want to hear, and are not listening to these clips objectively.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm basically just lurking and reading all the varying opinions. Personally, the fact that what this guy has to say is being accepted as newsworthy by anyone in Radio or otherwise is a total laugh and another indictment on the Media period. Think about it. It's simply a guy with a grudge (and maybe a slight mental disorder) presenting his very uneducated opinion. What is his education in Sound Engineering and Production? I'd really like to know.

I've participated a bit in the thread at BT, but generally have chosen to try to distance myself from it all. As for the band's response, I don't know what they will decide to do, but I have a sneaking feeling Rockndeano will live to regret his tirade against this band's integrity.

***How about going back to your boring websites***

Postby JourneyTroll » Thu Jun 22, 2006 11:19 am

Time for all the "crusaders" to leave this board and go back to your boring websites. Face it. This is the best message board site for Journey. We never needed you or wanted you. I know so many of you feel "entitled" to show up here because the sites you post on are not as good. They never were and never will be.

P.S. I'm willing to take the week "holiday" for this post, Andrew. Please leave it up. I can't stand seeing the usernames from the other Journey websites.

P.S. I will never browbeat my wife to name my child Escape, Chain Reaction, Schon, or Chrome Dome.

Thanks,
Journeytroll

Right, but the entity going out this fall is not "The Who." Plant and Page didn't go out in '94 as "Led Zeppelin." Daltry and Townshend could go out under their own names ("Roger Daltry & Pete Townshend: An Evening of Who Music" if you could fit that on a Ticketmaster ticket) and sell just as many seats without a) bringing down the name or b) having to live up to the original lineup. Zak Starkey and Pino Palladino are great musicians, I have the utmost respect for both, but they're not The Who. I think Moon and Entwistle were more necessary for the "essence" of the Who than most bassists and drummers are (no offense to bass players or drummers, but bands have replaced Jeff Porcaro, Steve Smith, and Bill Bruford and lived to tell about it).

Journey replacing Perry was huge, but they've also put out two albums and an EP of new material in 8 years (plus "Remember Me") which in my mind legitimizes the lineup more than if they did what The Who have done over the past 6 or 7 years. (I know they have a new record coming out, but I'll believe it when I see it...and if the "Then & Now" tracks were any indication, we might not be in for much)

Pit and Dean have raised the bar for getting a holiday. You're safe with this one.
