Nothing New

Postby T-Bone » Wed Jun 21, 2006 10:15 pm

I've tried to stay out of this entire fiasco for the fact that I'm a big Journey fan. All I can say is that no matter the outcome, I will still be a Journey fan, although maybe a little disappointed.

Lip Syncing, Overdubbing, and all that crap is nothing new and Journey isn't the first, nor will they be the last if it's indeed true that they are doing so. I have many concerts, by many bands and I can definately tell the difference between the singer is singing and when he's talking to the crowd. There's always a sound difference. One of the biggest i've ever noticed was Ozzy Osbourne, especially on the Speak Of The Devil DVD with Brad Gilles on guitar from 1982-83. He sings so clearly, even while running, but when he talks, he's out of breath.

You can find these on evilbay from time to time.

Gotta love Ozzy. When he speaks, it's like, "Kdkjso hspois ishlh s sldoisoi." Then the music starts, and it's "Shot in the Daaaa-=arrk..."

Oh my GOD I can hardly TYPE from LAUGHING!!!

Thanx so much for this - good stuff!!

With that being said, I'd like to clarify my "hot-headed" posts from the other day:

All I was trying to convey was this:

1. Journey in their prime w/ SP - remember that? 'Nuf said.

2. Journey now - WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED??

3. Artistic Integrity - guess it went the way of Santa Claus

4. "Rockin' Barbies" - I can't BELIEVE that Journey, of all people, would ALLEGEDLY BE INCLUDED into this type of grouping....re: miming, LS, whatever you want to call it.

Yeah. No one will ever touch that. But the current lineup is pretty damn good.

Deano happened.

Nora, supposedly tape usage is rampant among all genres, esp. new artists. Sucks, but blame technology for that.

Don't be so quick to indict them. It's all still based on 2 boots and a DVD.

LMAO! Nora, you almost made me spit diet Coke on my monitor
You may have hit the proverbial nail right on the head here. What I don't understand is with all this crap flying around, why doesn't SOMEONE from Journey speak up. Their silence is deafening.

Thanks for a good laugh!!!

...all based on 2 boots and a DVD? Didn't Kaj just post that somebody else at the Sweden Rock Festival (other than Svante and those engineers) also confirmed this to Kaj? This is getting entirely too real to overlook entirely. I could bury my head in the sand and scream NOOOOOO, I guess, like some people are doing, but I expected more out of Journey than that. I read where Augeri supposedly said that Journey was out of his league as a singer. Maybe he should have given that thought more consideration before joining. Did he think his voice would last even with the little touring they've done? How many shows did they used to do back when they were really touring...something like 180 shows. What they are doing now is a constant vacation compared to that. If his voice can't take two nights on, without tapes, then it's time to step aside. The stuff coming out about this from more and more reputable sources is something I can't ignore.

Did you all ever see the SNL skit where Horatio Sans played Ozzy in the recording studio. No one could understand him when he spoke, but when he sang it was clear as a bell. So when they asked him what he wanted to order for lunch, they couldn't understand him. They had him sing his lunch order to the tune of Crazy Train.

Don't forget that Augeri was about 39 or 40 already when he joined Journey. Perry joined Journey and recorded those famous vocals when he was in his 20's to mid 30's.

I used to be a major SNL buff, so I can fill you in a little...

That sketch was on an Alec Baldwin episode a couple of years ago that has NEVER been re-aired. I'm not sure why, because I don't remember anything being offensive in it. It was a hilarious sketch, though.

Yeah, I used to be, too. I like MadTV a lot more now. SNL rarely makes me laugh anymore, but the one this year with skillet-face from Seinfeld was great.

Yeah, it's been bad for a couple of years now, which is why I -used- to be an SNL buff. They need a remodel.
