I had a great aol and phone converstaion with RossValory rocks.com (Stuart) the other day, and he got me to settle down. He had me send him three songs which I did, and he put them in his special stereo which measured Vocal duplicity. He told me it was astonishing, to say the least. I offered to send him him more songs and he said, "No, I am shaking, this is enough." I said, "are you sure." He said, "yes."

The voice samples were at the 90%+ range, meaning there was almost NO chance that someone could replicate the same voice.

He said he wanted a chance to talk to Ross, as he was a friend, before he came out in support of me. He told me I was right, and mentioned that he wanted to talk to Ross before commenting. He called Ross, and of course Ross never called back. Do you blame him?

Anyway, Stuart, you gave me your word, and then renigged, so screw you.

I am outing you.

Well if we are "outing" people...then let me out you.

After I initially listned I have to admit it looked bad for the Journey boys.

But then I took the discrete sounds out of phase on the supposed bootleg. I stretched the sounds and slowed them down and then searched for other hidden discrete sounds, and I found it right before Steve's vocals start.

On the supposed Manchester bootleg I found where someone added the DVD vocals over the original vocal Steve Augeri sang, AFTER the original bootleg had been made. Under the overdub you can hear, very faintly, the original vocal done in Manchester.

I am still working on the other bootlegs but I am sure they are there.

So I would have to say Dean is full of it.

I wasn't even going to post this, but as you can see Dean forced my hand. I figured he had hurt himself enough with this whole thing.
But there you have it. And if I can find this stuff so can others, and I am sure they will.

The culprit, as prescribed here has not a leg to stand on, and it's been proven. He needs mental help, yet that is no pardon for the injustice he has caused you. May you all be at peace. To compare this with old bootlegs of Steve Perry is nothing but a cheap shot,the technology back then didn´t exist and even if you could find notes close to the original,it´s not even that close to the fact that this line up uses the very same tapes night after night.
I know the truth and the truth hurts for Augeri fans,our editor Par at melodic.net got tired of hearing both sides fight in our comment page of the news where I did an article about all this,so he called up his friends at the Swedish National Radio who recorded the Journey show at Sweden Rock Festival along with other acts.
I spoke to my good friend Par after the phone call and he just couldn´t believe his ears that all this was true,coming from an experienced sound engineer who has nothing against Journey.
The band wont comment it because it´s true.

I would love to hear that too. Also, on BT, someone mentioned a video clip of "Faithfully" from Manchester. Does anyone know where if that is available somewhere? The Manchester videos on Youtube does not show Manchester, from what I can find.

I will be posting a bunch of graphics of what I did to discover this, along with the actual sound evidence much later today, and tomorrow. This is just of the Manchester Separate Ways Bootleg. I will work on finding the others when I get some more free time. Some of us do have jobs and can't spend all day on forums ya know!

If anyone else would like to do what I did it's fairly simple:

Go get a good sound software, Raven, Sound Lab RTA, and SYRINX-PC all should work. I am not talking about sound editiing software, I am talking about sound analysis.

Covert the MP3 to wav...this is a digital to digital conversion so there is not addition or subtraction.

And just use the software to isolate sounds, once you dig down enough you can easily find it, along with the submerged original vocal.

Have Protools will travel I guess!

If you have an account there you can still grab the show. Three things:

1. I loved the Vegas DVD, overdubbed or not, so I ripped it to mp3 years ago to listen to on my mp3 player, and I've listened to it frequently over the last few years. So I loaded the Manchester show onto it as well and kept going back and forth between the two on the train this morning, and yes, they're the same. A few of the songs, particularly "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Any Way You Want It" are different, but I need to line them up to see if they're just from a different recording or if they just edited out some of the vocal fluctuations from Vegas. In any case, this is real...It kills me to say it, my stomach felt kind of funny while I was listening, because that's when it finally sunk in.

2. As for the songs that weren't on Vegas, there's plenty of other sources to cull from (including possibly recording these vocals in the studio for live use). They're just too perfect. Anyone who's ever heard an actual live Augeri boot knows he's not perfect...he had a great voice and did some good shows a few years ago, but he was far from perfect. Which was fine, it's the imperfections that make a live show unique. (As a Toto fan, god knows Bobby Kimball has had some bad nights) But this Manchester recording is flawless, just listen to "Faith In The Heartland," which I'm willing to bet when I line it up, will match up largely with the studio version. I've seen many of the greatest vocalists in rock history: Bono, Peter Gabriel, Jon Anderson, Jon Bon Jovi, Axl Rose, Robin Zander, etc. No one ever sounded that perfect and in tune so consistently as Augeri does on the Manchester boot. He doesn't veer off pitch, run out of breath, crack his voice, mess up a line of the lyrics, or have any other singing issues that even the best singers on their best days still deal with.

3. That infamous version of "Faithfully." This is the most subjective part, but after the alleged dropout of the pre-recorded track, Augeri's live singing not only is weak, but the actual vocal tone is completely different. There's raspyness, cracking, and just a weak sound overall, compared to the uniformly strong vocal presence of the rest of the show. There is no way that it's the same vocal that flawlessly blasts through "Faith In The Heartland" or "Be Good To Yourself" elsewhere in the show.

Sorry guys, this is real. I really wish the band would just come out and address this. I doubt it will break in the mainstream media the way Deano wants it to, but the real fans and the industry people will still know. Word will still get around, even among casual fans..."I hear that guy lip synchs to a tape." This is the internet age, true or not, rumors get around much faster now than 20-30 years ago, and as long as there's no offical word or proof to squelch it, it's going to continue to spread. It kills me to post this, but last night, doing my own research, I really believed it to be true.
