The people on BT are the equivalant of 15 year old year girls. They go along with the majority with their "friends" and don't rock the boat because they will be outcast and not in the "circle of love" anymore. They are a bunch of sheep all with the same programed brain chip. As far as them being like that because "it's the band's official website" that's pretty lame. People have free reign to speak how they feel on Styx's official website. Hell, back in the day, Tommy would even come in and jab with us over our concerns. BT is a joke and nothing more then a pep rally.

Hey, I am a member over on Back Talk and what you described does not fit me at all!!! You should really say that that is the way that you feel many of them are, but not all!!!

Just for the record...I don't think it's ALL people over at BT. Just the majority. But that's why I stated this in my initial post: "It's A FUCKING CULT. They'd (Not ALL of the BTers. There ARE some with a brain...)drink their bathwater if given the chance. I remember why I haven't been there in a while." Just wanted to clear that up in case any of the "Generalizations" shots were at me.

Maybe Angie should of said "teenagers" instead of girls.

Have you ever started a thread about the band with constructive criticism? I bet not.

Ok, I know that I am not the person who you were speaking to, but I will ad my two cents to your question.

I am a 34 year old male, and I have never once made a post in a single one of the "love fest" threads over on Back Talk even though I am a member of the Back Talk forums and I have made over 400 posts on there too.

I have zero interest in the "love fest" threads and I wish they did not have so damn many of those!

But at the same time there are a lot of nice people over there who share my love for the band Journey, and it's a good site to keep up with the bands tours and recording schedule. So I still like to go on there now and then, especially when there is a little more going on like there was last summer with the release of Generations and the big tour!

And yes I criticize the band pleanty on my own when I'm not happy about something, but I have a life and I don't waste it on trying to bring down a band!!! There are pleanty of bands that I hate with a passion, but I don't go on their websites or any websites for that matter and try to talk bad about them, after all how pathetic would I be if I were to deticate my life and time to a band that I don't even like or that I have a vendetta against!?!?

I don't go for the same reason I don't go to the DL official site's board.

It's ALL women. And middle aged ones at that.

I'm a 28 year old heterosexual man. I don't have any use for threads about whether Ross Valory's ass looks "cuter" in leather or jeans.

No use whatsoever.

I appreciate their positivity; it's certainly needed these days. But it ain't the right brand for me.

One time when one of the women on Back Talk (and in all honesty she seems like a really nice person who I have nothing against!) started a thread about whether or not Augeri would be wearing the red leather pants I criticized the threads existence and criticized the sexest attitude of it. And yes I received complaints from a number of people for criticizing it.

IMO the musicians in Journey are some of the absolute best at what they do! But when women start these threads about how Augeri's butt looks in leather pants it makes it APPEAR that Journey and their fans are not meant to be takin serious. Also many (but not all) women are hypocrites when it comes to sexisim. they will get bent out of shape when I man supposedly objectifies a woman and yet they will turn around and do the exact same thing in reverse by objectiifing men. So those are some of the reasons that I hate those stupid threads.

But it still does not mean that everyone on Back Talk is that way or that the whole site is worthless!!!

Ok, I stand corrected about you. I am not trying to bring down Journey. I am just saying that the balance of the BT forum is tipped too much into the positive. There should be some negative as well. It is just more healthier that way. To constanty be positive, and repress, if this is happening, constructive criticism about the band, doesn't really give the band a true outlook on what the fans are thinking.

Now since it is Journey's call to have the forum the way it is, don't you think that is a bit odd? Maybe it is me, but if I was in any band, I would want to hear everything, positive and negative, so I could see where my fans are coming from and what they really think.

I believe, and this is just my opinion once again, is that Journey shouldn't just rely on the feely good threads. They shouldn't shelter themselves from the fans. They should be open to anything a fan has to say, whether it be good or constructive criticism.

Yes, I too wish that they would allow some criticisms to be voiced on there, and I have spoken with other Back Talk members who have said the same thing.

To tell you the truth I think the biggest reason that negative things are not allowed on there is mainly the bands management will not allow it.

Just to clarify, I was not reffering to you when I was talking about loosers who spend their days trying to ruin a bands reputation!

That is alright J/S, it is my fault for thinking you meant it that way. I should of re-read that part again !

I see where you are coming from about band's management not allowing negatitive, or what I like to say, constructive criticism, and I believe that is wrong on managements part. How can any band evolve without it? Management shielding, or sheltering, a band from that, isn't that good management in my book. But then again, these are just my opinions.

About how many members over at BT feel this way? I think management should get some feedback from the fans, instead of sheltering the band from constructive criticism. JMHO.

Some of you are probably familiar with the 10000000 Perry forums out there... and if you went to steveperryfans.com and said you were unhappy with the Houston DVD and Perry should have done this and that instead, they'd likely kill it because they're very much about staying "positive" and "respectful". But if you said that on Perryville, they would probably let you say it because they allow criticism.

Use the aspects of different forums to your advantage. You can have more than one hangout, you know.

You say that like it's a bad thing .... :P

HEY! As one of those middle-aged women who posts on DL's Official Forum I take offense to the insinuation that middle-aged women can't discuss music.

Most of us do. And many of us do it quite well ~ with intelligence and thought.

Of course it could be you don't notice that because some of us find it's hard to discuss music with someone who didn't even exist when we purchased our first rock and roll 45 ~ we end up having to explain too much.

Admittedly on any fan board you will find quite a few women (and even some men) lusting and drooling over band members. But, that isn't limited to age.

And, on fan boards you will find those fans who can find no fault with the band or its music. But again, those folks come in all ages.

Middle-aged women do know how to rock ~ afterall, we've been doing it for a very, very long time. :D
