Well I've been watching all these posts and comments for a week now since Andrew's infamous posting on the main board about that topic, so I felt it was about time I added my 10 cents...

I've had a bad feeling about Steve Augeri's voice ever since it was announced that they divided the singing up on Generations - that would never have happened in the Perry days, not that I wish to get into the Perry / Augeri argument.

I'm a huge Journey fan, and finally got to see them in Edinburgh over here and it was a great gig, and I didn't notice anything untoward going on, although it was so loud in the crowd it was hard to hear much at all.

I guess my real concerns were when I read the initial few gig reviews over at BT, where apparently on the first night of the last US tour, Augeri didn't sing a single note, virtually or otherwise, till the second half, and that was a concern, so I have to agree with other well-observed posts I've read on here that all this isn't much of a big surprise unfortunately - Augeri has obviously had problems with his voice for years.

I really hope they do make some announcement though, as they're looking kinda guilty till proven innocent at the moment...

And if they do own up to it, I don't know what the answer is to the problem, short of replacing Augeri, which would be a shame all things considered.

It'll be interesting to see what transpires when the Journey / Def Leppard tour kicks off- there's a gig I'd love to attend...

I saw this gig in Boston. SA actually sang the first note during the intro to 'people and places' and was in fact singing on and off throughout. The first half of the show was pretty much instrumental though, being pre-Perry material.

I seem to remember reading SA saying that the extended three hour format was a nightmare for his pre-show vocal warmup routine as a result of the long delay before becoming the 'lead singer' again.

I agree about the divided up vocals on Generations - all the non SA tracks apart from 'A better Life' (cos let's face it Dean is now lead singer number 2) should have, at best, been bonus tracks.

it does make me wonder why the "new/old" Tall Stories CD that will maybe one day rear it's head, is made up of recordings almost 15 years old, and not being re-recorded.

I don't know the guys in the band personally, i've never met them, and I'm sure to an extent they are nice guys, but let's face it, they SEEM to be guilty to some people and not to the REALLLLLLY faithful fans who see them doing nothing wrong.

I'm NOT just a casual fan, I've spent lots of money buying tapes and albums then replacing them all with CD's when available, (though not the numerous remasters that come out). I have a vested intrest in this whole thing, so in the end. I hope something good comes of it FOr Journey, not against them.
