What has happened to this place?

What has happened to this board. I know tape-gate is a major issue, but do we really need thread after thread after thread on this subject. This place used to be fun. We all knew each other, to the point of knowing how somebody was going to respond to a particular thread before even reading it.

Many of the usual faces around here from just say 2-3 months ago are gone. This place has become the venting spot for I hate Journey. And don't tell me "No, I am really a fan, and love the band." Then proceed to call them pricks, liars, theives, idiots, and so on. That is not a fan, maybe a former fan, but not a fan. It is only music people. And don't give me the blind follower line, you don't have to be a blind follower, you can choose not to be a fan (follower) of the band anymore.

This whole lipping thing has gotten way to personal for some of you. You would think Neal is a mass murdering, baby killer by the amount of blood people want. And Augeri should be hung in the city square to be pelted with rocks.

This is a band that gave us some very cool music. If we like the music we buy the CD. If we want to go see them, we go. Do we expect a live singing performace? Of course we do, but I am not just there for the singer. I go to a Journey concert get to see a live performance from one of the greatest guitar players in the world. I get to see a great rythm section playing live. I get to see a wonderful keys player. And I get to see a tight band playing live. Now do I wish for the vocals to be live, yes, but that is only 1/5 of the show I am there to see. I love to sing along sure, but I really get high off watching the band jam out to La Raza or Filmore Boogie, or the odd Santana tune they trow in from time to time, or the pre-perry stuff the did last tour.

I am sorry some feel cheated because the singer may not be singing live. But if the singer is your only reason to be at a concert, then maybe you are just a fan of the singer and not the band. Maybe there should be disclaimers in every ad for every concert for every band that may use some kind of tape, assistance, effect or whatever. Is that what we are driving at here.

I miss the old days and the old people around here. I guess those times are gone for good here. It is a shame really.

Well, I came up with an equation based on the pics I have compiled of him from the time he joined Journey to today, his age, weight, metabolic rate, desire to grow a mustache or other facial hair, fat content of his body, and affection for his cat. The bottom line is that his hair grows an average of one inch per day.

Don't worry about how I came about the various variables for the input to the equation. Let's just say I know somebody.

I support my favorite sports teams even when they suck, because that is what a true fan does! Journey most definitely do NOT suck, not even close, but right now we have a bunch of self-proclaimed Journey "fans" kicking them while "their down."

If someone were to come on here and say I have always hated Journey and I'm glad there is this "scandal" right now, I would think "what a dumbass," but at least they would be telling the truth about their real feelings about the band, unlike the people on here who have an agenda against either Steve Augeri or even the entire band and yet they claim to be real fans!

When I go to a Journey fan the singing is only a part of the reason that I am going. As I have said before I am going first and foremost to see/hear Neal Schon play guitar, as well as the rest of the great musicians.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, even if Steve Augeri was/is lip-syncing it's nowhere nearly as big of a deal as some people are trying to make it out to be!

Some of the people who are calling for Augeri and Journey to be hung at dawn are acting like their Ossama Bin-Landen or something.

It sure as hell would be nice if those people would spend as much time trying to make this world be an enjoyable place to live as they have trying to ruin the lives of some musicians, and trying to take away the enjoyment of the fans!

I am at least as big of a Jounrey fan as you, if not bigger. They have been my favorite band since I was 13. I've seen them 9 times in concert. I have bought every album 3 times over. I have met every member.

I believe that wanting the band to issue a statement is my way of protecting Journey. I don't want to tear them down. I don;t want them to become a joke. I care about their legacy. I truly do.

You really need to put the responsibility on the band. This is their problem to handle.

I don't understand how someone can claim to be a fan of something and then bash it till the freaking cows come home???

Many of you spend FAR, FAR more time bashing and criticizing the band that you claim to be a fan of than I do bashing and criticizing bands that I hate with a passion!

I hate Nirvana with a passion, but I don't go on the internet and deticate hours and hours bashing them. In fact except for now for the purpose of an example I do not even waste my time talking about that sucky band unless someone else brings them up first.

There are still rumors that Courtney Love murdered or had Kurt Cobain murdered, I don't know if that's true or not, and seeing as I'm not the police I don't really care one way or the other. If she did kill him or have him killed then she will have to answer for it later. But I am not about to waste my time trying to prove anything against her, and I couldn't prove anything either, just like a certain someone on this site!!!

Do you have a favorite sports team? have you stopped watching any and all of their games because they have had a guy on the team use steroids? And believe me, if you have a favorite sports team, any team, they have had a member or members who have used steroids!!!

I hate frickin Barry Bonds and consider him to be the biggest idiot in all of Baseball, and we pretty much know for a fact that he was using steroids, but I don't go on some mission to get him kicked out of Baseball or to keep him out of the Hall Of Fame after he retires.

I would much rather be happy and enjoy what I like than to deticate endless hours to what I hate!

I'm 34 years old and have been a huge Journey fan since the age of 9. I own every recording that they ever put out. I have spent thousands of dollars on concerts, albums, shirts and every type of merchandise you can imagine. I buy every solo album any of them make and I have bought rare albums that a Journey member may have recorded one song on. I could go on endlessly about how much time and money I have invested in the band. And if they have lip-synced as unhappy as I may be over it I will still be a huge fan and I will still go to their shows and buy their t-shirts and everything else.

And I myself am a musician, so I believe in musical integrity as much as anyone, in fact more than most, but if they felt they had to use a tape to be able to get thru a tour then I can forgive them too! But that is still far from being a proven fact anyway!
