Actually, I think Perry sounds horrible on that concert. I watched it once and put it back in the case.
I know i'm in the minority though.
JeremyP wrote:Goodness no, I'm not suggesting Steve Perry was lip synching. (I hate it when they call it "lipping")
I think you can tell by watching and listening to that show that he's very definitely not.
I'm just saying that even the Perry lineup was no stranger to being "less than 100% live."
For what it's worth, I am a fan of both lineups (and of the pre-perry stuff as well), and while I do feel that Steve Augeri has used pre-recorded vocal tracks on some (not all) songs during recent concerts, it still doesn't feel Britney Spears enough to make me not a fan.
I appreciate what all the different incarnations of Journey have brought to the table, and they've all made my life happier and more enjoyable. (cuz I get to rock out to some great songs!!)

I'm not Anti-Journey or even Anti-Augeri, I'm anti fake/scam/lie. There's no reason for a band to do what they are doing/were doing. Postpone concerts if you have to, if you can't and you resort to "sweetening up" the sound to make it sound live, then it's just and ACT (your word). If they didnt' enjoy faking people out, they wouldn't do it. That is to say, if there wasn't money involved, they would say something.
and neal just dropped over $55,000 on a new custom bike!!!whocares wrote:depending on who you want to believe, they didn't invest well at all, or dumped the ones that they had. Most all accounts if not all say, Perry was the only one that did invest wisely.
Plus alimony etc. who knows what else. It's almost like the people who stand on the roads and ask for money, some of them need it, some make more than you & I, doing that.

I gotta know what is your opinion of Journey in their
prime then.
What's your fave concert?
Moon Beam wrote:Thank you for replying I was really curious.
Usually I am a bigger fan of studio recordings as
well.....with me though I think it's a jealous thing
when I hear live stuff from any band I like I'm jealous
and want to be there.
Odd I know but there are only a few live albums I ever
cared for.
Journey~Captured
Wings~Wings Live Over America
Great Big Sea~Road Rage
