Worst Hairstyles In The Band

Postby Citygirl » Sun Jul 02, 2006 9:23 pm

This is always a fun one to do. I'd say the worst ones are/were:

Neal's early 70s afro (I know you're not meant to use that word now btw). He just looked silly. It was better once he toned it down a bit

Steve Perry's big hair in 1986... normally I like that sort of thing but I don't think it suited him

Augeri's.
Neal's 'fro? You gotta be KIDDING. That was the coolest do in band history. When he had the full-blaze fro going with the fu manchu, that look ruled them all.

PS: special mention to Perry's nerdy side-parted short thing circa 2001.

I think Neal looks better with his hair shorter. Just my opinion.

And yeah I agree about the side parting thing with Steve Perry. Looked a bit daft.

if I may be an officious prick...RJ was never in Journey. Sideman at best. But not IN Journey the was Valory is and was. And with that look he had no biz being on that stage with Neal.

The worst? I'm not a fan of Neal's fro in the earlier days but I gotta nominate Jonathan's hairdo while he was in Bad English. I don't think he looks good with long hair to begin with but it looks even worse with the hair-band type look.

Total cave-in to the times. Cain, Waite, Castronovo, and Phillips had big hair with hair spray, Neal got sorta jerry curls and Waite went the total glam route with makeup.

Yeah, that whole album cover is kinda frightening. At least the music was halfway decent.

I don't think there will ever be any arguement that Jackson was never an official member of the band. No matter who much Jackson tries to pimp himself in that way on American Idol, et al.

And I don't dis-agree that Jackson looked like a "larger" version of Grace Jones. Black Jack table cover on his legs and all. Can he play? yes, but Mike Baird and Randy Jackson were never "members of the band" anymore than touring musicians doign a gig.

Hey it was a time for change in looks for everyone, while in vegas someone commented he(Steve Perry) looked like Wayne Newton on ups...;)

As for Randy Jackson it was a rumor and once in the media that they stole Clarence Clemons from the Bruce Springstein & the E Street band...:D

no, it was the um, hairstyle that Randy had ont hat tour. You know the Cameo (word up) hairdo. Shit, Cameo is black too. uh oh.

Seriously, this isn't stereotyping black people, it's talking about a harido.

I wasn't aware Perry ever had a mullet. A mullet is a do that's cut really short in the front and left very long in the back. His hair was always long in the front and just combed back, unless I'm missing something.

Perry never was "business in the front, party in the back." The Separate Ways video was close, but his hair was always long enough over the ears.
