The board that made all message boards look like childs play was the old Augeri board. It wasn't moderated and the posters were real bad ass's.

Do you remember AJ, Barb? He was from Canada and I thought for awhile that Deano was AJ. A lot alike, right?

Well, let me see.... hmmm..... Ego? A craving for attention? To try (and fail miserably) to look cool and 'big' in front of their friends, because they have 'no' life, to spout profanities..... the list is endless....

Actually, things didn't get like this until Tapegate came along.

Like it or not, the recent bootlegs do not cast a favorable shadow on Augeri's voice.

I can't find a single post speaking negatively of Journey pre- '98. You CAN be a huge Journey fan and NOT like the current line - up, contrary to popular BT belief.

And yes, you are still a Journey fan. Otherwise, we wouldn't listen to Journey music all the time.

Wait wait wait!!! Lest we get confused again. Are the boots proof of lipping or sounding awful?

Um.... both???

There is more than one boot out there. Some prove he is lipping, others prove he sounds aweful - which is why he was lipping.

You must not realize that there are several bootleg clips out there.

Some show that the vocal tracks are identical for more than one show. This would not be possible if they weren't pre recorded.

The ones where he is singing live (see Dean's Faithfully and DSB clips) he sounds like a dying frong.

These are 2 different entities. Thus, it is a situation of "both".

Let me know if I can help you to understand this further.

COMPLETE B.S. Many of us are critical of ROR. And Perry's takeover of the band. And the band's cave-in to '80's fashion on the ROR tour (shudder).

Not much to criticize before ROR, though.

Then we're back to waht Zino said somewheres else: Among a certain portion of the fans it's now become a crime when Augeri sounds good. Most people just still think he's sounding good, you guys figure it's KevCat wearing the overcoat flipping the switch.

Yea, bro. You are NOT looking hard at all. Me, the Perryloons and 'Drew are the only ones here that like Raised On Radio.

Then I may as well close it down now, eh?

That depends on what YOU want this forum to be.

Right now, this forum is ONLY used to critique the band, or defend the band. That's it. Nothing else really happens here. There is no 'discussin' or 'debate'. It's just two 'sides' beating each other with words.

If that's what you want, fine, leave it open. And, that is all people should expect from the forum, and that is all people should give to the forum...cuz anything constructive is ignored by the posters here.

In the past, I didn't think that is what you wanted. But, ever since Dean went on his taped vocals crusade, it seems you don't mind if that is how people use your forum.

Yep.. it never changes because people love scandal, rumor and to blow their own horns. It does seem to get worse and worse though until the forum owners either dump it or give up and let chaos reign.

We all have different opinions and taste in what favorite songs and musicians we have.
Journey is a huge band,I mean they have sold over 70 million albums around the world and lots of people have great memories of classic songs this band has recorded.
I got into this band because of their honesty and soul,I can´t get enough of their music.
There are a lotta great bands out there but Journey will remain my favorite band as long as I live,it´s ok to use tapes for background vocals and some keyboards or drum machines coz many bands do and it can help the show in some ways.
But I prefer it live, played by the band on stage coz that´s when you show the real talent in a musician.
I can take it if a singer or a musician can´t pull it off like he used to just as long as he or she puts his heart into the performance but what I can never ever take is FAKE!
I care about this band and many of us do,it´s not so hard to understand why people get upset when Augeri is being accused of miming his way through concerts.
So he´s singing live now on the LEP tour, that´s good but looking at the reviews - it seems he´s not in the best shape coz he´s either cracking up the high notes or the audience can´t hear him at all because the vocals are too low in the mix. (there´s a reason for that, believe me)
I have this cd classy sounding bootleg (just as good as any live album) I am not allowed to have, don´t bother to ask coz it won´t leave my house but it´s so obvious Augeri is using tapes coz there are 2 different sounding microphones.
One sound when he talks with the audience and does a few fills and another more crispy and clear sound when he sings - when he talks, his voice cracks on every 3rd or 4th word but when he sings - he hits every single note like a true vocal god.
Not a note on the whole concert on the verses or the choruses are outta place,he nails them like a machine but when he talks between the songs,he sounds like he have been drinking too many glasses of whiskey.
And why is Deen using that hi-hat on every song, even the songs that Neal or Jonathan introduces......Steve Smith never did that......but on this recording,Deen starts every song with a 1,2,3,4 and continues to play on that hi-hat just like if he had a click track in his earpieces.
A click track with a reason!
I have listened to this recording in my headphones several times and I must say that Steve Perry hit the right notes to 90% or even more on all the boots I have heard but if Augeri really sings,he does it 100% and I haven´t heard anyone do that before.
The most positive thing about this recording I have,is that the band plays in a magic kinda way and Deen has an amazing voice.
Schon´s axework is nothing but super, classy, awesome, out of this world.
The mystery is the lead singer with a whiskey cracking voice that nails every note with a high pitch like a true studio recording.
Journey is not just a band,it´s a way of life!
