I know everything about Journey. I have seen them 20 times the last 4 years. I don't want that to end.

Nobody said Journey is ending, in fact, they keep saying just the opposite, but nobody seems to hear those words when they say it.

My opinion is I want to hear new music. If Neal can't get it done with Journey, then I hope he gets it done with Soul SirkUS. I am positive that Neal has a lot of great new music in him and I want to hear it. If everyone took the approach of--let's just stay with what is safe and what we already know we like, Journey wouldn't have happened in the first place. Fabulous things come from taking risks. I totally admire Neal's ability to just take a chance on something and see what happens.

Isn't it true that any non-Journey side projects takes away from Journey writing new songs for a new album? Journey should take a break after this tour and write moving new songs that their fans will enjoy listening to.

I say no to all side projects until a new Journey album is completed.

How does it take away from Journey writing new songs? The Journey boys have talked about the way they write--they all write stuff independently and then come together and work out the actual songs. Neal seems to write non-stop and some of his stuff in non-Journey sounding, so rather than have that music simply go unheard, he has side-projects. Jonathan has a number of solo CDs. He seems to release one every year and I don't hear anyone saying that detracts from Journey. Great music is great no matter where it comes from and it doesn't matter to me whether the CD is by Journey or Soul Sirkus as long as it sounds great.

First off, I DO NOT want Perry back in the band. I simply said that's what Neal should do if in fact he has the burning itch to play in front of sold out arenas BY THEMSELVES again, like VH does now. Part of me was writing that because I don't think VH is doing all that hot of a live job this year. It's a newness, a revitalization for the VH fans....I LOVE Augeri in the band but unfortunately, as good as he really is, will never win over the casual fan in order to fill the big bowls....No, leave Perry to retirement(although that guys voice sends shivers down my spine), and keep Augee...

The reason I don't want Soul Sirkus around too much is I'm afraid Neal might like it too much...If you all remember behind the music, there was a rift between Perry and neal regarding solo projects...and yes I remember Neal saying that he couldn't understand why Perry was so miffed, because Neal put out stuff that didn't sound like Journey. OK< Neal, if that's the criteria, and you mean it, by all means have fun with SS and then come back. I am a jealous Journey guy and just want a NEW Journey CD, with NEW support from a label, and a good opening act so they can tour big time...that's all I want...

I want another MAIN EVENT TOUR!!!! REO, Styx, and the boys. A night of heaven!! The ONLY thing I hated about the show was the time restraints on Journey. I would also one day like to see a NIGHT WITH JOURNEY show. Have not had the pleasure to catch one of those yet either. The setlist this year, IMO, is awesome. Have to try to catch a show.

Well, if you get re-tempted I have a couple of GA tix to VH at Oakland that I need to dump--thanks to Eddie.

Well, Styx is supposed to have an album ready early next year too...

Journey should tour with Styx, and dump REO...Both bands would have more time to promote the new songs. Well, I guess that assumes Journey will have a new album out next year too. Maybe Journey could open for Styx.

I personally want Soul Sirkus to be a tremendous hit. I hope it doesn't leave enough time for Neal to do anything else.

SO the "sirkus" was your only interest? No interest in VH at all??

hire back Steve P. , stick with Journey, do the fucking stadiums, and dwarf VH's reunion tour.[/quote]

Sounds good on paper........LOL....BUT I am not sure the right words would be "hire back" Steve P. Seems to be a "home fire burning" for him??

I'm not driving to Oakland to see VH when they are playing two shows in L.A. so I was only interested in the Oakland show for SS. They have also obviously oversold that Oakland GA area because they keep claiming it has sold out and then more GA tix appear on tickets.com. That will be a zoo. VH reviews are not great either. Their glory days seem to be over. I can always see Sammy. I think VH will be done after this tour.

Dude, there was a reason Journey HEADLINED the Main Event. I hated the Main Event. Why? Well, I loved al the bands, but Journey had 80 mins??? That sucked.

Yeah, the reason is that Journey draws as many people as REO and Styx COMBINED. Journey deserved the headlining spot...But, Styx earned it by consistantly performing up to Journey's set standard night after night.

The Main Event was awesome...not just because of the headlining band. It was awesome because it truly was an 'event'...especialy when you are in the first 10 rows grabbing guitar picks and drum sticks and getting free Cyclorama buttons, etc.

I doubt Journey could ever top that experience...even if they did open for Styx next year.

You can't be serious? Styx is a fine little band, but Journey are so much more talented musically. They are in a different sphere. Styx NEEDED REO on their recent tours, and I might say REO plays neck and neck with them. Don't get me wrong, I like Styx, but I would hasten to say that Cyclorama is not nearly as good as Arrival in terms of writing or production.

I'm a bit new to this. But thought I'd give my little opinion.

I've heard a bit of the song Soul SirkUS has on this site and am looking forward to hearing the rest of the CD. If Neal Schon want to have all these side projects, go for it. I'll check them all out. My preference is for more Journey, without Steve Perry, but I'll take good music from great musicians any day of the week. Am I the only one who thinks Steve Perry went a little fluffy in his advanced years? I think Steve Augeri gives Journey back their edge and that boy can Rock. He may not have quite the vocal range that Steve Perry does, but when was the last time anyone heard him sing something that didn't sound like it belonged on an adult contemporary station?
