I think it's up to the club owner, and even then it's not a huge sum. A liquor license costs alot
more than whatever they send to BMI/ASCAP.

Royalties such as these come into play when it's radio or TV broadcasting (or CD release).

In the UK the venue where a cover band plays has to pay an annual license. The license covers liquor and entertainment.
Some of the entertainment license money goes to the Performing Rights Society and they send out staff at random to check what covers bands are performing. They somehow work out how much goes to the composers or their Estates if the composer is dead. The band never pays for royalties, the venue does.

My band (we do covers) was visited so often by the PRS that I typed up a list of our whole set, with titles and either who wrote the song or who performed it. They took the list away and did whatever they have to do to ensure the composers get their cut.

I do know many UK covers bands, however, who have never been visited at a gig by the PRS, but, believe me, it happens.

I assume it must be a similar thing in the US.
Hope that helps. :)

Hi cetera, :)
You see, I TOLD you it happens! :D
The first time they visited us at a gig, I have to admit I panicked a bit, because I thought they were going to hit us with a huge bill! But then I did my homework on it all, and the panic subsided.

They wrote the songs we feel are good enough to cover, so they deserve a cut.
I have no idea how much they get from bands like us.

Over to you, cetera.............. :D

Steve's fan site is www.augeriville.com. That site usually has the latest on him so I'm sure once they get news, they will put it up there. At least, that's where I am checking for news.

But apparently they're still doing meet and greets. I would like to see someone with guts enough to walk up to Neal and say, "but seriously, what the hell happened with Augeri and what's your take on those lip-synching allegations". But of course no one will do that. If they do, they will never get to go to a m'n'g again...

Someone get me into a meet and greet and I'll gladly do it. It it's true Augeri isn't coming back and JSS is the new frontman, I don't care if I never ever get into a meet and greet again because I won't be going to any more concerts ever again. And that's because I just don't like the way JSS sounded at the show Monday (sorry to all you JSS supporters -- this is my opinion). But I'd go sit through another concert (I'd spend it at the beer line probably) if I knew I'd get to meet Neal and I could ask him this question.

yes, we're all aware of how pissed off you were about JSS fronting the band "temporarily" we heard about it for hours on end last night.

I don't take much credence in what Journeys pr team or website says...They straight up fuckin lie.

We were told this is a Co-headlining tour. Bullshit. That's why Journey is playing on half the stage. They are openers

We've been told for years that their will be a new DVD. Where is it? We were told Steve was sick for the Chili show. 1 week later he's fine for the Hawaii gig. He was in top form in Europe and than his voice is shot 2 weeks later, and done with the tour?More bullshit.

I could go on and on.

We'll see Perry era DVD's re-issued, before the most recent version of the band releases anything like that, me thinks.

And yeah, anyone who believes that anything posted there is NEWS that you can trust, is crazy in every sense of the word. It's probably just a rumor anyway, kind of hard to prove to prove what a fan at a meet & greet said or was "told" by a band member. If anyone thinks they'll actually tell you anything other than what the Press Release said, then monkeys will start flying outta my "arse".

The Augeriville site isn't a Journey or PR website. As far as I am aware, it's run by a handful of fans. I met the lady who was the founder of it a few years ago. She's a very straight person so I don't see her putting up anything that is lies.

Well, you had me agreeing with you until you posted that. Not according to Svante, he wasn't in top form, but his recordings sure were.

the more you attack people's alleged learning dis-abilities that you accuse people here of having, the less people care what you write.

Then how come you constantly misquote me, repeat the same thing over and over again only using the first part of what I said, but not the entire context of it, and determining that I'm saying over and over again something I've not said? At the same time, you call me names and avoid answering any questions by repeating this over and over. It's a broken record and it makes you look as if you are unable to comprehend.

I haven't attacked anyone's learning disabilities. I've merely suggested that you may have one. It's the only reason I can think of for your constant repeated misquotes of what I've said.

And I really don't care who cares or doesn't care what I write. It won't change my life.

nolippin, tequila's on me tonight bud.

I'd suggest someone go spend time with their husbands, but I'm gonna go spend time with my wife and daughter instead. There's no hope for some people.

I'll take a double then!!!

I'd venture to say that it was hubby who bought the computer and encouraged the online time!!

I think I have more productive things to do this evening as well. Enjoy your evening.

You two are pathetic! And you both say the same things over and over. I end up wondering if you're really one person using different screennames. But it all seems to be to get me to post more and more and more so that I have to correct your misquotes. Weird. You could just ask me to post more.

For the record, I was using a computer long before hubby. And he's right here with me having a good laugh.

You took the words right out of my mouth. All you do is misquote me over and over. Same old S__T different day ... it's like Groundhog Day. Nolippin doing the exact same thing as yesterday.

It would be a nice calm forum if you quit doing that you know ... you and whocares your alter ego!
