"Don't stop believin'
Ever since their acrimonious split in 1998, it’s almost as if the members of JOURNEY have been determined to prove to former lead singer Steve Perry that anyone can do his job. First they replaced him with sound-alike Steve Augeri. Last year, they let each band member sing a track on their Generations album. And when a throat infection hit Augeri just as the group was gearing up for a summer tour with fellow ’80s hit-makers DEF LEPPARD—which arrived at Starwood Amphitheatre on Sunday—vocalist JEFF SCOTT SOTO was drafted to replace the replacement, at least temporarily. Then they handed vocal duties on several tunes in the show to drummer DEEN CASTRONOVO. Take that, Perry! The sold-out Starwood crowd didn’t seem to mind the last-minute switch too much. In fact, the surprisingly high-energy Journey set and the overwhelming heat left the audience perhaps a bit wrung out by the time headliners Def Leppard hit the stage. The Leps charged gamely through hit after hit nonetheless, barely stopping for breath, except when lead singer JOE ELLIOTT pointed out how “fucking hot” it indeed was. Alas, the group’s well-earned pre-encore bow was upstaged somewhat by the mass migration of the KEITH URBAN-NICOLE KIDMAN entourage toward the backstage area."

I'll never set foot in the Starwood Amphitheatre again!

I was there that night, but I missed the opening act and Journey. Because of traffic and lack of parking. It took us more than 2 hours to make what should have been a 20-minute trip. There was absolutely no traffic control and the parking lots filled before all of the ticket holders could get in.

Two lanes of traffic crawling to the amphitheatre and not a traffic cop in sight. Some poor lady in a car with open windows passed us screaming "I'm missing Journey!"

People even started parking their cars and running to the venue about 3 miles out.

The concert -- we managed to get in a minute or so before Def Leppard's first song -- was fantastic, but the venue was a nightmare.

Did I mention that even though we had tickets in the reserved seating area, the venue staff couldn't find those seats? Those seats didn't exist. Two ushers and a supervisor looked and couldn't find them. They finally put us in seats that no one claimed (probably stuck in that mess of traffic).

Some poor guy from, I think Alabama, was turned away from the parking lot, wasn't familiar with the area and didn't know where else to park, so he and his wife drove home without seeing/hearing any of the show ...

Yeah, never mind that Deen has been singing lead on several songs for the last couple of YEARS.

We were at a hotel 4 miles if that from Starwood. Took us 1hr to get there. We walked in as the Whos's won't get fooled again. But I went a way that I haven't gone, and passed a lot of people in the turn lane. Some one was nice and let me in. Took us about 20 minutes to get out, and another 10 to get to waffle house at exit 64.
I like the place. As for outdoor shows, better than being at Mud Island in Memphis-ERIC
