Sammy and the Wabos "Livin' It Up!"

Postby The Fly » Wed Jul 26, 2006 7:36 am

Anyone else get this new masterpiece? I think it's one of Sammy's best since his pre-Van Halen days! Is this guy one of the best rock vocalists of all time or what? This CD just makes me want to go down to Cabo and drink tequila on the beach and never come back.

I'm digging it. It's a fun, laid back CD, very Sammy style.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, it puts me to sleep. I listened to it, ripped in onto the iPod and probably won't listen to it again.

I don't like it, save for Mexico and Sam I Am.

I'll pass on the party shit. Gimme another rock album.
I'll just roll w/ 1013 until such time (Ride, Sally, Ride kicks ass)....

To each his own I guess. Yeah Ride, Sally Ride is a great tune!! But I think since he left Van Halen most of his albums have been hard on rock and soft on catchy melodies. My favorite albums have always been "Standing Hampton", "Three Lock Box" and "I Never Said Goodbye". I think this one is right up there! I love the slight country flavor but I would hardly say Sammy has gone country. LOL... With the exception of the hard rockers I think the majority of the public loves this album!! All you have to do is check the reviews at Amazon and iTunes.

I smile every time I hear them sing..... "Livin' on the coastline..................." :D Great tune!!

I wonder if most of those reviewers are transplanted country fans. I was amazed at how many people I talked to at the show I went to were not Sammy fans unitl they saw him with Toby Keith and Kenny Chessnut, or what ever is name is.

It'll probably get hig on the country charts.

Well from reading it looks like most are long time fans like myself. I've been a fan since his "Montrose" days and this really isn't that different from much of his early material. Do you remember his cover of "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay" ? That would fit right in on this one. :D

Got it yesterday...listened to it once late last night..

I like it! Yes, it's more laidback, it's earthier, and it kicks ass!

Don't worry, folks, I'm sure the next Sammy & Wabos CD will be a return to hard rockin' form. In the meantime, get back to Livin' It Up!

A damn cool album, one of his best albums the last decade.
Those who don´t like it just don´t get the whole idea behind it!
This is what Sammy do best..........now lets hope The Other Half can
put together a record too!
Journey is not just a band,it´s a way of life!

Nup!!! I've been a Sammy fan since 86 when I first heard "5150", "Livin it up" is a let down, theres no rock on it at all, its a totally new departure in all areas. I Cant remember the guys name earlier, but he said this is not to far sounding from his early days and his version of "Sittin on the dock of the bay". Not for me, it might be what Sammy wants to do, but its not the Sam album I want to pay $32 for. I just hope the next CD is back to basics. Its one of his worst, if not his worst.
