Fan says he talked to Neal and the band seems very happy.

Okay, Don't shoot the messanger but I saw this on another board from a fan who is also the Mod at another site. He went to the concert and then after met Neal,,,well maybe stalked him to talk,,okay that's what he says. The guy goes on about meeting the boys,,,blah, blah, blah,,,and he says...

“Deen, Ross, Jeff and Neal are at the bar with about 6 or 7 hangers-on and a few elderly, oblivious hotel patrons.Jon was in his room already with his family. Being very mindful of the whole obsessive fan thing and not wanting to invade the guys' personal spaces (but at the same time wanting to...) we hung back a bit and pretty much waited till the time seemed right to approach Neal. We talked for about 20 minutes- he was very approachable last night. He talked quite a bit and I maybe soaked in like 10 percent of it, but basically I learned that Journey is writing new material right now, the guys are very excited about the new energy Jeff has brought to the band- he mentioned that ticket sales have increased with Jeff's addition.

The current tour is making so much money at a time when other major stars' tours are stalling, that Journey is planning on touring another couple of years. Journey merchandising has far outsold Def Leppard merchandising in the US and did so well in Europe that the band is going back by themselves and is even going to Australia.”

Now, I don’t know if the Mod is making this up,,,, but it’s the story he’s selling. Main points that got me were...Sounds like the boys are writing again,,with Jeff,, planning a tour in Europe,,where Jeff is known well,, Journey don’t plan on stopping anytime soon,,and they’re talking about “new energy Jeff brings the band and lots of dough they’re making. If Neal did talk to this Mod then my money says Augeri’s out and the new man with the plan is Jeff. Maybe that’s why news is still going about the lippin, if Augeri comes back talk starts about tapes and the kind of money they make now goes out the window.

Neal said in a Soul SirkUS interview with Jeff beside him,, about Soul SirkUS “We are definitely not afraid of playing live. It’s not a Pro Tools band. We are ready”. Wonder what that dig was all about and if they were talking about someone we all know,, back then??? Things that make ya wonder........

Neal also said that SS was NOT a one off thing, and lo and behold... So far it has been and probably for all intents and purposes will be. Do I want it to be a one off? hell no. Do I want Journey to tour and possibly blow out Jeff's voice?(too) hell no. IF anything is true about this and if they are indeed writing, then they certainly aren't writing with Augeri in mind.

btw, you coulda just put this addy in so as not to make people scoll right for three hours...

Neal and Jeff have that classic Perry/Schon dynamic.
I don't think it's so much a case of them taking time out to write, as they simply can't help it.
If this is true, I'm not suprised in the slightest.

Wasn't Jeff gonna drop in mid-tour last year to write SS2 with Neal?

Even if Jeff's tenure was temporary, I think they would've written stuff anyways.
What else are they gonna do to pass the time on the bus.

Now Augeri fans will be able to relate to Perry fans, then they will all team up and go after JSS fans, and the debate wars will florish! Oh what a happy world in Journey land!

I am a big Augeri fan, and Big Perry fan too, may be a little pissed, but nothing I will not get over. Augeri carried on the Journey sound. Yes Jss has the spirit of Perry on stage, but not the Perry voice (no one has that). Biggest test if they release a cd with JSS, will it sound like Journey or Soul Sirkus.!! If they keep the Journey sound, will forging ahead, that will be very good. If they sound more like SS, very bad, well just bad :D -ERIC

NO!!!!! I know they will think they can relate, but you know there's no comparison to relate to. Come on, they couldn't even think up an original name for a website without making it sound strikingly like Perryville.

So does this mean the Soto/Lukther album is not gonns happen?

LUKE AND JEFF GET TOGETHER AT LAST:
This from Jeff Scott Soto over the weekend...I was hoping to add a couple of comments from the guys, but I'll have to post those later:
Says Jeff: "I'm stoked to announce I recently met with Toto's Steve Lukather before he split on their recent tour to discuss a new studio project we will tackle this Fall when I get back from the Talisman tour. A producer/bassist/writer named Fabrizio Grossi will act as sort of a ringleader of the project keeping production going when Luke or I are not able to be in attendance together. (We know who will be drumming on it but until it gets closer to the start time, I can't reveal just yet).
As well we're discussing some guest musicians that may appear as well, Lord knows we have many friends between us in the biz but for the most part, I wanna keep it personal as I've always wanted to make some music with Luke...he's a bad mutha on guitar & only adds to the resume of all the greats I've played with in my career. Can't believe I've known him for over 21 years now, I have a great pic of us the FIRST day we met at a rehearsal studio I may post on here just to embarrass the shit out of both of us...Toto were rehearsing for the Isolation tour & I was with Yngwie getting ready to debut his solo band...funny shit!"
Let's see that photo Jeff..

Well now, this is interesting. If they're writing new material now, then they need to PLAY it during the concert!

If what the poster said about the increased tickets sales due to Jeff's involvement in the band is true, that would make sense since Jeff's fan would now start going to Journey concerts.

You know, it's funny about the fact that some tours are stalling and this one with Journey is doing well. What's funny is NOT that Journey's tour is doing well (if that's the case). What's funny is that it's not just with music concerts. Movies are taking a major HIT at the theaters. Even magazines like Playboy are taking major hits! Good for Journey if they can do more than simply keep their heads above water. That's cool.

If Jeff stays on, then I'm sure my wife and I will take in a show sometime...in the future.

I don't believe a word Schon says. How can you? The guy lied straight to our faces..well, ok, he got over on us, until some of us called him on it.

Great, they are writing. WOOFuckingHOO. JSS is not Journey, and dammit to Hell, will be a very shitty Journey lead...not a slam on Jeff, the dude has pipes, unlike his predecesser....But dude cannot carry on the Journey sound, IMO.

I have it on good source Jeff is permanent...we shall see. I think he is, but it is another bad decision by Schon. First he picked Augeri who was only average at best, and now this. Has neal ever looked behind him on stage and seen that singer? Perhaps he should.

Oh, they are touring some more? Wow, I never would have thunk it.

I think Neal feeling good about the band is great, but next month or so, the road is gonna get rough and rocky..again.

Oh, please. I doubt ANY set of the fanbase is going to go as loopy as some of the Perry fans...attacking the band, or Neal, admitting they HATE them. It is WAY too extreme, and it's a realm that some the Perry fans own as a group. The only thing that comes close is the group here who love to hate BT...although I'm sure some of them are probably members of both clubs.

Yep, I'm sure Neal HAS looked behind him on stage. But what part DON'T you get about Deen being a drummer (who sings) rather than being a singing frontman?!?

Touring some more? Great! Sounds like they'll be coming back to Europe (and maybe even Oz) where people WANT to see them, enjoy the music and don't spend their time moaning constantly....
Who knows, maybe Neal will bring you back some deodorant Deano....

As for the 'next month or so' I have a feeling that Cain wants out..... if so, I hope Rolie comes back! 8)

I think Jeff and Neal have a great writing chemistry but the vast majority of readers on MR.com hated SS, will the Cain influence make it Journey enough for those that thought SS had no melody...if JSS is in permanently. I have no doubt Neal might think Jeff fits with the Journey sound, I didn't hear it at JSS show #2 and would just as soon have this new material emerge as the second SS album. Then again, if the guys think it looks like those that are coming to hear the hits are satisfied that may be enough to convince them it will work. I still can't see JSS and Cain being that tight.
Finally, the increased ticket sales can't possibly be due to JSS's addition to the tour, other than a few scattered fans here and there. Sounds like it was a Grey Goose night...
