Do some research. I'm not a Perry loon and never have been. I love most of the stuff the guys have done with Augeri and don't have any delusions about Perry rejoining the band.

Are you talking to me? I've hardly been one of the many stirring up trouble on this board over the last few weeks.

No, man. I'm not talking about you at all. I included your quote because I agree with you. Sorry I didn't make that clear. I'm talking to the shit stirrer that started this thread by trying to call up someone who finally crawled back under his rock.

Yep, I agree. He has no need to get back on stage. If he did, it would be ego and that's all, since he does not need the money.

So what is Schon and Cain's motive for being on stage? Is it simply an ego-free love of the hits they co-wrote twenty-five years ago?

It could be any number of things...Money, love of the music, playing in front of big crowds, etc., etc. Anyway, they're the only ones who know for sure.

That's what the ROR Tour was and even though a number of great songs came from that CD, they were mostly created with Valory and Smith.

If Perry was back in the band now, it wouldn't be the "dream scenario" as you tend to think because it's very doubtful that Perry could hit the highs anymore and in that regard, Jeff (and Deen) does an infinitely better job of it now than Perry could, I'm sure. For Perry Only diehards, that probably doesn't matter, no more than those who loved Elvis months before he fell off the toilet from a drug overdose could only say "he was as good as he ever was" after seeing him in concert. The smart Elvis fans got bored with his antics (lying down on stage, forgetting the words to the songs, his voice sounding like crap and looking Jabba the Hut) and either left the shows in disgust or refused to purchase tickets.

This Elvis analogy is absurd. Perry might not be able to hit the high notes (and nor could Augeri - and JSS is missing them by a mile now) but it doesn't therefore follow that he's a drug-addled fat has-been who falls off toilets and sounds like crap.

In fact, he's retained his dignity in a way that some current members of Journey spectacularly have not.

You seem to be wanting to weigh in on this issue. :) You're right, it's Friday, but that's what happens when your office is in your home - one day turns into another and it's easy to lose track. My wife is working from home today as well and that made me think it was Saturday.

How about giving the board a chance to be the way most of us and the board admin want it to be?

Now, don't go trying to ruin my happy-go-lucky mood for the day! :)

You've all had plenty of chances to do try and make this board what you want it to be and if Andrew or any admin has a problem with my postings, they're free to let me know about it. Now in checking, it doesn't look like...wait a minute...no, I don't see your moniker up there as one of the admins.

The Perry board here was closed down due to the constant infighting, and I had nothing to do with that. In fact, I've had nothing to do with MOST of the fighting that rages on this board since my return. Nothing at all.

This is part of the problem though...there are too many humorless individuals such as yourself who deign to think that YOU know best about what should BE. Me? I'm here having fun because NONE of this is as serious as some of you make it out to be. None of it.

Hmmm, okay, I'll try to explain this better. My analogy was simply meant to show:
1) That no matter how bad Elvis got, some people believed he was "better than ever!"
2) No matter how much of his voice he may have lost (and yes, Perry has put on some weight by the way, which WILL affect his singing), some people will say that he is "better than ever!"

That was all. Nothing more. 8)

I thought the Voice looked in pretty good shape back in May - but yes - I take your point.

I guess the same denial of reality can be found in supporters of the current line-up of Journey...and although they haven't reached Elvis levels of sadness they're not that far off from the scene in Spinal Tap where the band plays second on the bill to a puppet show.

He was fat. He was nowhere in "good shape". Don't get me wrong, I don't care WHAT weight he is, but you can't say he was in good shape. The man has been putting on the pounds since he left the band.

I didn't say he was OBESE. You can't deny he's packing it on, but that also comes with age. I've been fighting it for a while myself, but jogging helps quite a bit.

That's certainly possible, but if he was on steriod treatment, wouldn't he still gain weight all over? Look at Jerry Lewis. The poor guy suffered a very dibilitating back condition, which was only relieved through steroid treatment. He ballooned up like an apple, but the pain went away.

Damn! That is some good readin', that thar is, Lar! Seriously, it's not hard to do the "quotes" thing and the reason I do it is to AVOID misquoting someone when I refer to their post in my text. Unfortunately, some like to think that I just to look at my own words/posts, when in reality I'm trying to be as faithful as possible to the original poster's text, that's all.

I honestly don't know where you're coming from Larry. I also have to honestly say - for the record - it doesn't matter, so you and VL, or anyone else can have at it.

Now, excuse me, but I gots to go and get me some of this here work done on my 'puter. I be finishin' layin' out a book on model building that's gonna be publish'd later this year. 8) Gator done... fer now...
