Tall Stories Preview on the Home Page

Okay, now that song "Tomorrow" is as good or better than any of his Journey cuts. Holy Crap! That was a good band that should've been huge.
Another band that should've been huge but wasn't was Dan Reed Network. Like Prince sat on Bon Jovi. Cool stuff.

Sorry but does absolutely jack for me. Pretty shit. Never like Tall Stories that much way back when they first came out. Incredibly over rated stuff indeed. If that band shoud've been huge then bands like Giant shouldve been bigger than the fuckin Beatles.

DRN was a phenominal band until they moved toward that dance sound and away from any rock.
Did you ever hear Dan Reed's solo EP? It is available at MSN music...

Dan Reed was always a funky rock danceable band. They're albums all rock! They had the best rhythm section! Don't think I heard the EP. I'll check it out. Thanks! :D

Sorry Bry but "Heat" did not "rock"... It was solid dance, funk, groove but no rock. Well, there was ONE song.

Salt of Joy is one of the coolest songs I've EVER heard. Oh well... 8)

I have all the Dan Reed Network stuff.... studio , boots and demo's

plus live DVD's....pro shot and boots

you can actually download all their releases including the original e.p. here:

http://www.danreed.com/ quality is 128 bit, but good nonetheless

DRN were quite simply the best Funk/rock/dance groove band of the late eighties

The first studio album was awesome...great production too

also try www.sevensistersroad.com for all things DRN

my own opinion is that The Heat is the weakest studio album, in that it went straight ahead rock, and lost a lot of the funky feel off the first two albums.

You may be interested to know that Andrew has put up a couple of DRN's vidz on his Mr X site, well worth a membership
Neil

ps just headed over to www.danreed.com, and discovered some new unearthed stuff. mp3's off a project he did called "Get Deep" from 1992, with a guy called Clarke Styles, "GRAB IT NOW"

Well, to be fair, I think I have listened to it a grand total of 4 times since it was released. I just couldn't get into it. But I have a bunch of demos for the CD thatwas supposed to follow Heat and like them. So I guess it would have worked itself out... ;)

Hey Neil, I would be very interested in the Dan Reed DVDs having never had the chance to see DRN live.
I have everything else though 9other than the Dan Reed ep, I still haven't bought that).

I cannot believe you consider Heat 'straight ahead rock'.

Caught them (Dan Reed Network) live in the UK, on 3 occasions

First time supporting Bon Jovi(went to see DRN though)

second in Manchester

Third Liverpool

the best live band I ever did see

Try to hook up with the live video(never released on DVD) recorded in Fox Theatre Portland(their home town) 1991

its black n white(owing to tech probs I gather, in the repro of the gig) but an absolute masterpiece

I have it transferred to DVD, and also their studio vidz were available on video for a time too, also transferred em

They sometimes crop up on e bay, in fact one guy adz them continiously over there

Wow! I've heard some of these tracks before, but not all. Almost like having a new DRN album. Thanks!
