I've never had the opportunity to meet any famous rock stars. I believe if one met Steve Perry now, he'd probably be more mature than in 1980. I mean, a young guy with new found fame and fortune - not to mention being the frontman.....I respect guys in that position who remain the "nice guys" of the business. Still, regardless, it's never right to use profane language in front of a kid....a fan....whoever! I'm sure, however, Perry probably regrets alot of things he's done as a young guy.

Anyways, about the orginal topic at hand. With both Augeri and Perry being very talented, I'd still pick Perry --- for the musical reasons. He will always be the true identity of Journey. However, it's been nice having an Augeri fronted Journey during the past 8 years instead of no Journey whatsoever. I'm curious as to what a JSS fronted Journey album would sound like.

I guess this goes to show that the whole thing is subjective, since some claim that SA fans are "out of touch" and overprotective and in denial etc etc while others say the exact same about SP fans. Maybe EVERYONE'S out of touch for liking Journey at all!

But also: Italia, you need to get your head checked. No one said Perry was a child abuser (if they did, please show me), and it was pretty clear that N, J, and R knew about this MANY YEARS LATER since Stu was dragged out by his Dad right after "meeting" Perry. I also missed the part where anyone "intimated" that Perry's bodyguard roughed people up? Please quote that for me.

In fact, in most cases, we know nothing at all. Yet, we "love" them. Give me a fuckin' break. This cult-like mentality is exactly how people are manipulated...saying they'd do just about anything for front row seats or back stage passes. I'll go on record as saying that I love Steve Perry's voice and his contributions to music...that's it...nothing more. For all I know, he could go home at night and jack off to kiddie porn. Doubtful, but stranger things have happened. As for the story about RVR, while it was an unfortunate encounter, it shows a human side of Steve Perry. One that might have been frustrated from touring, had an argument in his relationship, or maybe he's just an asshole. At any rate, we should love the music and distance ourselves from disappointment by staying away from people we think we "love" when we really don't know jack shit about them. It just makes so much more sense.

A fucking men. Perryheads or Augeriheads sounds much more benign than Perryloons or Augeriloons. I think it's safe to say, if you are a fan of Augeri, you should be able to call yourself an "Augerihead" and not be too freakishly cult-like, and same goes for fans of Steve Perry. But the fringe or extreme of both - That's like saying, AIDS or cancer??!? I've been raked over the coals by both, and anyone that bases their opinion of another on their feelings about a stupid ass rock and roll guy has got some serious problems. As for Perry and Stuart's unfortunate meeting, here's one for the Perryloons - Coooocaaiinnnee!!! It'll turn Santa Claus into a psycho. Would anyone like some Bolivian marching powder with their arrogance? It's a recipie for disaster.

Interesting point. In the computer class I'm teaching, we were talking about Journey (long story, but the short one is that we were going over PowerPoint and I gave examples of what some students had done before, including PowerPoints on their favorite rock group), and one gal mentioned that she had seem them live a number of years ago at Mountain Aire (not sure if I spelled that correctly). Anyway, Perry came in on helicopter. The woman in my class said she was right near the stage and could see behind the stage. At any rate, the copter set down, Perry got out. Sherrie, his gal at the time, got out of her limo, which had driven up toward the copter. As soon as Sherrie got out, the student in my class said that he just let LOOSE on Perry; yelling at him, giving me hell. She couldn't hear what was being said, but she could tell that Sherrie was PO'D! She followed him around and wouldn't let it die. She felt bad for him because he was getting ready to "go to work." The student said it just looked like Perry was trying to ignore her and get away from her. This happened BEFORE the concert.

What a way to have to go ON in front of thousands of people after having been chewed and spit out by your significant other!

I canNOT imagine having access to unlimited amounts of that stuff (along with other things) and saying "No!" to it while everyone around you uses it.

Italia1986 wrote:Now the claim is Perry is a child abuser! What next, a serial killer? Interesting this "victim" uses nearly the exact same quote that Herbie Herbert used in expressing his feelings towards Steve. Sounds like all the wolves run in a pack. By the way, where were Ross, Neal and Jon when Steve was supposedly spitting nails at this "poor" helpless little kid? He said they were there and knew all about it?

Oh, then we have another intimated revelation that Steve's bodyguard roughed up some ladies on the WOF? C'mon......ludicrous..........

All this trash talking needs to stop NOW. No human on the planet is a Saint, just as no one deserves to be slandered. This is about MUSIC plain and simple. If people want to believe in Perry, let them believe. If they support Aug or the new guy, that's their perogative as well. Stop the personal attacks, gossip and lies :!:

Okay Matthew, here is your chance to help me understand how ANYTHING stated by Italia1986 in the above post is in any way, shape or form connected with reality...

A JSS fronted JRNY album will sound like Soul SirkUS with Cain on keys.
how hard is it to imagine?

That's certainly true of me. Well, I do recognise that it isn't 1986 any longer but I'm not happy about it.

But...let's be honest...this is true of Journey too....98% of their current live set-list is stuck in the past.

Oh no...I've just been describing myself as a PerryHead...

Well, I'm trying to take some comfort from the fact that I don't go around calling myself that outside of Journey messageboards....not yet anyway. I mean...I wouldn't introduce myself as a Perryhead to my bank manager or clients at work.
