WORLD CHANGER wrote:Just drive up Coastal Highway 1 and stop by all the little seaside communites and have a beer at each one. Your bound to see all sorts of characters along that route. :D Devils Slide in Montara Cali. is a cool little destination  .

LOL... But, alas, Devil's Slide is currently closed. I think it's supposed to open to one way traffic controls late this week, but the brutal storms we had back in March/April wiped out the road (AGAIN) so Devil's Slide is closed. Complete reopening was originally expected to be mid-September, but if they're opening it to one-way traffic, it may be open sooner than that, but I wouldn't count on it.

Thus, if you DO head up Hwy 1, you'll have to head east on Hwy 92 and take 280 North to SF.

And, gawd, how could I forget Santa Cruz! D'oh! LOVE the Boardwalk. Giant Dipper is my favorite roller coaster of all time AND a state landmark (as is the carousel.)

Hell, if you are doing Coasters, do Magic Mountain. 13 of them, and they are the best in the world; nothing comes close.

The Giant Dipper is an OLD wooden rollercoaster (I think it's near 80 years old now) so no going upside down.

As for the Mystery Spot... easier to send ya here: http://www.mysteryspot.com/

Not that I can think of off hand, but if you go swimming in the ocean in Nor Cal, it is COLD. There are also a lot of rip tides in the area, so can be quite dangerous, so if you do go swimming in the Pacific, be careful and make sure you go somewhere there are lots of people in case you get in trouble.

mnmsjrny Thank you so much for the links.
I have seen something before about the Mystery Spot
and man that does look cool.
I know I would love to ride the Dipper, looks like my
kinda coaster!
As far as cold water goes I swam in Lake Erie this year
when it was only 54 degrees and I loved it.
Hate swimming in bath water gimme ice cold!
I will definitely swim where others are and thank you
for the concern.

Have you heard of it?, your thoughts please.

Not sure, but you may be thinking of the Sams Anchor in Tiburon, which is the next town over from Sausalito.

Great place, my dad used to take us there, but it's been 20+ years.

As for coves, Big Sur, south of Carmel.

Also, The coastline between Santa Cruz and San Fran is amazing.
The water's not that cold, I grew up near Santa Cruz and went in the water all the time. Though riptides can be a problem.
There are some interesting coves north of Santa Cruz, 3 mile beach (3 miles north of Santa Cruz) and 4 mile beach.
A bit of a hike from the road, but worth it. Also, if you keep going about 8 miles north of SC, there's Panther Beach, next to it is Hole-In-The-Wall, where you can only go during low tide.
