Departure Reissue CD FYI

This is just an FYI for anyone that cares. I placed an order from an Amazon.com Seller for the 4 reissues that I knew for sure were out. After the order was placed I received an email from the seller stating that he had Departure also and that he could not find a listing for in on Amazon. He asked me if I wanted to add it to my order, so of course I said yeah. I received the order about an hour ago and sure enough Departure was with the others. The reason for this is I guess because I ordered PROMO Copies (got lowest prices), so there are some PROMO copies of Departure out there if anyone wants to buy them early. Also what I found interesting on the last page under “Reissue Credits” it does NOT say: Remastered by Bob Ludwig and Brian Lee, etc (1996). INSTEAD it says Remastered by Dave Donnelly at DNA Mastering, Studio City, CA. It has no year. Any thoughts on this?

I also have scans of the booklet if any one is interested. I know the Evolution booklet scans were posted so it is allowed right?

All of these are the NEW remasters (or re-re-masters if you will) done under the auspices of SP. So for a lot of the albums, this is their third appearance on CD.

Infinity has had no less than five masterings on CD: the original, the gold disc, the PDLS version from Japan, the regular remaster, and the new one.

And the pre-Perry years? Still on the original masterings

They were all supposed to be new remasters, so guess they deviated from that plan, and it means that most likely the pause between "Lovin' ..." and "City of the Angels" problem was not fixed (the problem only appears on the 1996 remaster).

I hate that extra space between those two tracks, though it does make it easier to separate the two when you're making MP3s.

Well, I got Departure and Evolution in the mail today. Evolution is the same master, so there's still the gap. Thanks Steve, Journey, and Sony for the crappy non-fix.

Don't waste your money on Departure when it comes out IMHO. The new mastering IMHO sounds horrible. It's bright, and the drums and cymbals sound very unnatural (esp. the snare in places). "Little Girl" for example sounds way better on both the Dream After Dream CD as well as on Time3.

loved the pics... I am still debating on this one whether to get the reissues or not...
I think it would have been better to have a rarity CD with all the b sides and such---and not these reissues......just my thought.

Management sure had em on the road for LOOONG periods of time though huh?? No wonder Gregg left in 80.. he must of been worn out...and he looked it when you see those pictures of him.

A bargain since I think these are like $12 new each.
