And here's HOW you do it. Jon speaking: "As some of you know, Steve Augeri, our lead singer of the past 8 years has been sidelined with a severe throat infection. Fortunately, a tremendous artist and friend of the Journey family, Mr. Jeff Scott Soto, has been gracious enough to lend his talents to us and keep this rockin' tour alive. Without him, we wouldn't be here tonight. Here's a sample of Jeff's solo work, an amazing ballad called "If This Is The End." Ladies and gentleman, Mr. Jeff Scott Soto!!!!"

I don't.
Look, Jeff is promoting himself just by showing up.
This Journey tour is massive exposure for the dude.

Jeff is the reason they're still able to make a shit load of money. He's also the reason the 'tape-gate" controversy has subsided. If they'd like to show an ounce of gratitude for once, they'd FURTHER enhance his career and let him be the showcase of 1 fucking original song. One that he doesn't have to strain his voice to. Shit, try it for a few shows and see how it goes over. I don't see any harm in this at all. Take out Cain's ridiculous solo. Or maybe cut the SSB to under 20 minutes.

Journey is the reason they are still able to make a shit load of money.
Those concertgoers come for Journey.
Not for Augeri, or Jeff.
Less people know Augeri than Perry, and hell, even less know Soto.
You plunk any suitable tenor in their place and the gravy train is gonna keep on a'rolling.

And who was this guy they were gonna find on such short notice? You're making what they did sound much easier than it really was. Not to mention you're getting off the topic.

Yes it is ! Can you imagine that people, me included, who hadn't heard of JSS before this is now looking for his work? Hopefully this exposure will get him and his band, if the Journey gig is a one-off thing, to tour the States. :D

Thousands of other singers out there, and younger aswell. But for the time given, Neal obiously thought Jeff was the best choice for helping them out because they play alot togather - in my opinion not the best choice for a Journey frontman, but who is after Perry left?. What gets him by is the fact he is an accomplished singer, and can sing Journey and is friends with them - but thats about it. Augeri is in the same boat as JSS, and just like anyone else out there, as said by The_Noble_Cause, any suitable tenor will just help the gravy train going - and its true.

"Thousands" my fuckin' ass. Who is out there professionally trained with their voice in great vocal shape waiting by the phone? Not to mention they have to know the Journey catalog. Your comments are stupid and disrespectful toward Jeff. Standing on that stage in front of 25,000 people on short notice (a week or two) is not as easy as you make it sound.

I am sure Journey and their mngt. team has looked at other candidates thru the years.
They would contact him, the same way they did Jeff.
You make it sound as if Jeff was eating Lay's potato chips and sitting around the couch.
The guy had a tour well underway and many exciting projects looming in the future.
He cut them all short.
Any melodic rock singer contacted by Journey would be crazy not do precisely the same.

You're making what they did sound much easier than it really was.

And you're pained attempts to depict Soto as Journey's savior are dellusional.
You're as bad as the people who previously thanked Augeri for allowing the Journey to continue.

Jeff wasn't exactly salivating and waiting by his phone either.
Again, if a band of Journey's caliber comes calling, you go.
Period.

Your comments are stupid and disrespectful toward Jeff. Standing on that stage in front of 25,000 people on short notice (a week or two) is not as easy as you make it sound.

What a sycophantic suck ass.
I'd tell you to go to BT, but even they are not nearly as blindly enamored with Jeff as you are.
Jeff is rocking concert venues nightly and aside from purchasing my ticket, I don't feel I owe him diddly squat.

Savior? Never said that. "Candidates thru the years?" Hmmmm, sure took a long time to figure out Augeri's voice was gone and the cat was out of ther bag. If they had all these people lined up to replace Augeri they never would have begun the North American leg of the tour with him. They were scrambling to find someone. JSS is the perfect fit because a certain percentage of Journey fans are familiar with him because of SS.

And Journey's management team has to be one of the worst ever. It should never have come to this. If it's so easy to keep the "gravy train" rolling with "any tenor voice" why would they play to tapes? They were going to do this the WHOLE tour. They only switched singers because they HAD to. Not because there are thousands out there. And as for me being "enamored" with JSS, I sold my tickets when they came to Chicago, ASSHOLE.
