How long until we get the announcement?

Postby bionic » Sun Aug 13, 2006 6:43 am

With everyone debating if Steve will come back ,or if the band will wait for him,or the most likely that Jeff is in! when do you think it will be announced? My feeling is at the end of the tour (October) your thoughts? :)

I agree. I thought they might give a word about his "health" during this break. It's coming to an end & nothing said. I bet nothing more until after the tour. Then Steve will step down "due to his health" & the band will wish him well. JSS will say he's very sorry for his friend SA. He will thank fans & say he was received well on tour & is honored to be asked to continue as the frontman w/Journey. Next year another Journey tour. In a few years people will forget SA. They'll still be wondering if Perry is going to come back. But they'll think JSS is the guy who replaced him if they notice there's a new guy up there. And life will go on.

I think at the end of the tour. But that will depend on how long the tour will go after October. :D

Speaking of that, I'm wondering when we'll get more dates released since it appears that another leg is imminent (I've gotten word of an October 28th date with both bands). I would have thought they'll release more dates during this break between legs 1 and 2. Maybe on Monday at the start of next week.

I don't think we'll hear anything until after the tour is over and perhaps not even until the first of the year.

A girl at work came to me tonite to change her schedule. She was going to fly home in Sept. & had 5 Star tickets. She called the ticket place (I Love All Access?) to see if it would be Augeri (she's a huge fan of his more than Journey & a NYer). They said he'll be out for this entire tour. She took a refund (I couldnt convince her to try JSS) & changed her trip dates. If they're saying this to ticketholders I wonder how long before the band updates the official site.

The official site says nothing as usual, i think people are having heart attacks, praying for Steve to return on BT.This is so unfair on them, its like being told you have to wait 4 months for a result on an illness! The reality is the band know what is happening regarding singers(Jeff is in) yet it seems everyone knows except the people on BT? This is dividing people who are in the know or at least suspect Jeff is the new guy with the people who are crying into their coffee waiting for Steve to return,i mean prayers for a guy shows their are some seriously upset and worried individuals on that site. Plaese note i am not bashing that site just talking in general regarding how some people are very upset regarding Steve,i wish they would put them out of there misery,so they can move on.
It would have been diffrent if they had cancelled the tour and were deciding but they have a new singer, this reminds me of when Bruce Kulick filled in for Mark st John on the Animalize tour, next thing you knew was he was in,played well enough and the tour tested him out then it was Bruce is the man. 8)

I agree with you on that Bionic. I've seen how upset people are over on BT (I'm Citygirl btw).

I'm sort of in between on this one. I've had a gut feeling about it from the start that Jeff is in permanently but I also really like Steve so would like it if he came back and Jeff kept doing what he's done well for years... but yeah, there are some right upset folk on BT and the band really does need to put them out their misery. It's waiting to find out that's the problem. If they knew then they could accept it but how can they do that when they're being told he'll be back?

Hello again city girl! well nice to chat with out the restrictions that BT have! I love Steve too wonderful guy and did a sterling job for the band.Must admit i would rather have him back than Jeff(as good as he is) but that cant be unless they want to roll out the tapes again  Lets hope he can do some stuff with Tall Stories, many people can adapt their voice to their age and abilitys i am sure Steve will
The way this has been handled from the moment Steve had voice problems is awful, and i repeat myself here when you have people praying for a guy to get better and return, then you have an obligation to tell them the truth(regarding his position in the band) Keep posting City Girl at BT its nice to know there is some sanity among the chaos :D

Its gotta be a little embarassing for the "official site" when by the time they any announcement everybody already knows, but they continue to let things linger on and spend
there efforts locking down threads ...............

I hope he can do something will Tall Stories or whatever, but if his voice is ruined I wonder if he'll just give up singing altogether and do something else. Might be the best thing.

Anyway, yeah... that positive energy for Steve thread has over 350 replies. Most of them from the same people, but it does show they really are upset about this and want him back. It's not fair for the guys to keep them waiting until they end of the tour. How long is that gonna be? I know it was originally til September but it seems to be getting longer all the time.

Come on guys. Just say what's happening. You need to be honest with your fans. They buy your CDs and come to your gigs... you need them to keep going.

Regardless of what's happening w/the band, isn't it weird they can't say something innocuous(sp?) like "Steve says thanks for all the good wishes & prayers."

What they don't realise over on the official site, is that they're actually making people more suspicious by hushing everything and locking the threads. They should just let people talk about it. There are some decent folk over there, they deserve to be able to voice their opinions and say what they've heard.

As for waiting til the end of the tour... well you know what I think about that 1. It's ridiculous. Just bloody well say he's out... for god's sake, sing "Ding-Dong Stevie's Out" if that's what you think will get the message across. This keeping quiet and pretending he's coming back is just giving his fans false hope and some of them have been upset since 6th July/before that.

Like Bionic said, if there's people crying and hoping their favourite singer will come back, you should at least be honest about it. Whether he'll be back or not.

Yeah, you're right. Could even cost them some fans. A lot of people are taking this silence as a reason to keep praying for a miracle. Say what you want about those fans holding on to hope, but I think it reflects worse on the band and mangement IMO

Dear Journey Men,

Some of your fans are delighted to see JSS on stage with you, some are howling behind their screens, some are in between but would still like to know what the score is. Do you really like seeing people upset cos they don't know what's happening with a band they love? If you really read the message boards (here and BT) you'll know that some people take this whole thing seriously and have done from the start. Hope you don't end up regretting staying quiet for so long.

People like this are a trifling bunch and should not be weighed by the band when making their decisions.
That might sound awfully heartless or draconian, but hey, let's face facts:
If Perry's absence didn't destroy the band, neither will Augeris'.
And I say this as a strident Augeri fan (at least for the early part of his tenure).

I wouldn't be a bit suprised if Augeri refused to take being the fall guy in all this and sued the hell out of the Journey establishment. All his efforts and reputation will be sullied otherwise and that would be pretty hard to live with. I still can't see anyone who presented himself as he did to his fans, take being railroaded this way. No pay off is worth it.

Cains last interview about "Integrity" durning Tapegate was enough to paint him, Jon, pukey green forever, imo.

But here's the thing: they'll never admit to lipping. Period. So whether they wanted good ol' Stevie to be the fall guy or not, anyone in that org who knew and complied with it - including Steve himself - are just as guilty. We will never know the full set of circumstances and such - we know the end result, though. I mean, what would he sue for? He did it! No one wants the ugly details to go public. They want it to go away.

As I've said before and others as well, he was paid (and probably well) to go away and has some sort of gag order to prevent him from talking.

The reality is that Journey has moved on and want all of the negativity of the whole tapegate thing - as brief as it was - to go away. Bringing Augeri back or addressing the situation will only rekindle the flames. I have a feeling once they are off the road there will be a short statement made, but that's it. "Steve couldn't come back for health reasons and decided to leave the band, we wish him well. Journey is excited to announce that JSS is now our permanent vocalist. Rock on peeps!"
