Dear Neal and JSS,

Please explain to me why anyone should support your sad asses after you (Neal) made Augeri mime to audio that everyone and their mother had. Instead of handling the situation maturely and maybe getting him out of there early, it became a fucking circus. NOW you (Jeff) pass out meet and greets like candy to people who hated the band three months ago, not the ones who liked it for years.

I'd like to hear exactly how Steve Augeri is such a bastard that he deserves to be shamed in front of thousands, saddled with ALL the blame for this "Tapegate", and sent home while those who like him are flailing blindly for a justification that never shows up. Please tell me why he deserved this, because from all accounts, he was a pretty nice guy.

If this is a band that sucks dedicated singers dry every 8 years and fires them silently, I don't know what to say. Just pathetic.

First off, what does Jeff have to do with any of this? I went to the MNG before the Indy show and didn't hate the band before that. It had nothing to do with how I felt about the band at the time. Jeff is just a nice guy.

As for Steve, he lipped the shows. He could have said no. The buck should have stopped with him. Whoever in the band knew about it and went along with it should get part of the blame as well. I don't know about you but I didn't see anyone pulling strings to make Augeri's mouth move to the lyrics. He was doing it willingly.

Excellent excellent excellent point! It needs to be said more often. Where was his artistic integrity that other singers here talked about? I would bet $$$ it wasn't in his contract that he would have to lip if he ever lost his voice. So why didn't he just walk away? That's the part I don't get. Some have said the pressure was on him to finish the tour last year so he just did it. Ok. Then why do it again this year? Why not say no way. Did he really think he would not get caught?

I can understand the pressure he must've been under. But the responsibility ended at the end of his lips. He could've walked away and we would all still respect him.

Rockn'deano, not employed by Journey, found the evidence via bootleg recordings that showed that some of the lyrics were taken right off the 2001 DVD. Not to mention that a sound engineer from Sweden heard flawless lyrics from the audience during one of their European shows and then heard the actual vocals in the sound truck backstage, which sounded horrible.

I have no inside sources. No one ever tells me anything. What I know is what is said on this board and what I have gathered from BTM and other interviews. Please feel free to let me in on the big secret why Augeri deserves this, anyone. My PM line is open. Until then, I hold the band responsible.

I would say that I'm definitely not one of the "loud-mouthed posters" on this board. I simply stated early on that I didn't believe JSS was the real Jeff Scott Soto in one of the threads here and he PMed me and said he would prove it. He did. He's a nice, humble guy from what I can tell.

Until someone PMs me and explains, I'm more inclined to believe that someone made Augeri finish out a contract like that. Lipsynching could not have been his idea, because any singer with a brain would have given himself rest instead of pushing on like that.

Simple: Because he was the singer and he did the lipping. No contract made him do that. I'm not a lawyer but no court of law would have held that up. If he walked away & said "vocal problems prevent me from continuing" he would have won any suit the band brought. I don't know why the band went along w/this. Maybe it was their idea. But Augeri still could have said no.

I barely got to even see the guys. I met Jeff and that was it. The other guys were gone by the time we were done talking. I didn't even want to mention it here, to tell the truth, because I don't want everyone PMing the guy and bugging him for tix or MNG passes. I thought he was an imposter and he simply wanted to prove he was not since they were going to be playing in my area at the time.

Unfortunately, the fact that the band was in on it (possibly their idea), condoned it, and let it go that far has killed all of my remaining respect for any of them. I'm starting to appreciate Perry's "quit while you're ahead" approach to life...

Not sure what the lead singer of Boston, his name is Brad Delp by the way, has to do with anything. I saw him in concert hell yeah he is getting old, I mean nobody is getting younger, he needs some help hitting the high notes and he doesn't hide that from anyone. Delp is far from a washed up lead singer, Augeri might not be coming back to Journey but I hope he can do his own stuff.

Then I guess Augeri wasn't actually lip-sync'g. He was karoakying. Who knows exactly what Augeri knew? Maybe he was told that Kevin was brought in to "sweeten" the sound. Maybe Augeri was told that's the way it was going to be - to put in the sound of his own voice singing the songs during concert. Maybe Augeri didn't really have a choice. Who the heck knows?

Obviously, people here want to castigate the guy and maybe he should be castigated. But for god's sake, Brittany, Madonna and others have done the same thing in concert.

For me? I don't really care I guess and I'm not going to lose sleep over this anymore than I'll lose sleep over whether or not Steve Perry is going to put out another CD of original material, or if JSS is going to be on the next Journey CD...if there is one.

I think AFI was confusing Dean with Dave, who did say he got a M&G. If not, then there is something going on off these boards.
