Jeff invited deano backstage at the show on the 19th. Deano goes backstage. Deano doesn't come out again...

Just kidding...Image

I sure as hell wouldn't invite Deano backstage... but then he's helped JSS's career so I can see why he's doing it.

It's helped his career? How? The guy could not invite enough fans backstage that would even make a dent in concert sales, album sales, etc. That statement makes no sense at all. All it does is cement the guy's reputation as a class act and all-around good guy.

You think the band getting rid of Steve sooner than planned hasn't helped JSS's career?

Deano's helped JSS's career in the sense that it was him that made them get rid of Steve sooner...

I didn't say that Jeff's joining Journey for this tour isn't going to help his career. I said inviting fans backstage isn't going to have ANY major impact on his career.

If you believe it's a conspiracy, you're a nut.

I can't remember which thread it's in but if you use the search function to look for postings by JSS you'll see where he told Deano he'd like to meet him and that he'd get him backstage.

Sheesh. I wasn't saying inviting folk backstage was helping anyone's career.

Read it again. I'm saying that I can see why JSS is inviting Deano backstage because Deano has helped his career. I also didn't mention it being a conspiracy... but I might be a nut anyway

JSS can kiss my ass, he was waiting in the wings for the signal that Augeri was out. And now he invites Dean backstage and rewards him. Everyone's guilty.

They probably planned this all when SS broke up. I would not be surprised.

Not sure what the lead singer of Boston, his name is Brad Delp by the way, has to do with anything. I saw him in concert hell yeah he is getting old, I mean nobody is getting younger, he needs some help hitting the high notes and he doesn't hide that from anyone. Delp is far from a washed up lead singer, Augeri might not be coming back to Journey but I hope he can do his own stuff.

I apologize, I was suggesting they USE the lead singer of Boston if they ever needed another fill in because he still sounds so great, didn't know if he was too old to tour? but he has the voice for it!!! thanks for the post

Not usually... I've seen a lot of their bullshit and stayed a fan, but I think they've crossed my personal line at this point. I'm done. I'll stick with the albums instead of paying $100 to see them after this tour. Label me an Augeri/Perry "loon" if you want, but I am not happy with this band.

I'm too emotionally invested, I think.

I just don't believe that anything good can come from what went down with Journey this past few months. You can't rebuild a reputation on deceit and contrivance. I'll bet that Soto has already lost a lot of fans from his previous work who see his latest effort with Journey as trying to take a shortcut to fame and leaving your soul behind.

Please explain to me why anyone should support your sad asses after you (Neal) made Augeri mime to audio that everyone and their mother had. Instead of handling the situation maturely and maybe getting him out of there early, it became a fucking circus. NOW you (Jeff) pass out meet and greets like candy to people who hated the band three months ago, not the ones who liked it for years.

I'd like to hear exactly how Steve Augeri is such a bastard that he deserves to be shamed in front of thousands, saddled with ALL the blame for this "Tapegate", and sent home while those who like him are flailing blindly for a justification that never shows up. Please tell me why he deserved this, because from all accounts, he was a pretty nice guy.

If this is a band that sucks dedicated singers dry every 8 years and fires them silently, I don't know what to say. Just pathetic.

Fuck both of you.

Come on AFI. You hold Neal and JSS responsible for 'tapegate'.... for real? If I try real hard I might be able to see your logic with blaming Neal, but Jeff?? There would not be a tour if it weren't for Jeff. And for the record- I do not hold Neal responsible whatsoever for 'tapegate.'

I can't blame Jeff for Tapegate, notice I directed that statement to Neal. My anger at Jeff stems from his offer to make buddies with Dean.

What I'm saying is that EVERYONE in Journey is responsible for Tapegate. Not just Augeri, and no, not just Neal but he's the one Dean claimed read this board... if he'd said Jon reads this board I would have said "dear Jon" as well. I'm angry at the band for doing Tapegate, letting Augeri shoulder all the blame, and then oh-so-conveniently picking up JSS while talking about how he's so great in the band, yadda yadda. What the hell did Steve A do to them? Call me a loon but I don't want to be a fan of these kind of people.

There would not be a tour if it weren't for Jeff.

Some would have preferred it that way... I wonder how many refunds ILAA has given...

I don't claim to speak for Jeff but I don't think he's trying to be buddies with Dean. Friendly? Yes. Perhaps he and the guys in the band just want to talk to him? Who knows.

Judging from the attendance figures at the shows, I wouldn't think it's very many.

I hear ya, AFI. Jeff and Dean buddies.....

I would have asked for a refund from ILAA had Journey not gone all live. The price we pay for tickets can be ridiculous at times, but certainly worth it (at times) as well.

Why would he lose fans? I think his fans do support his decision to tour with Journey, happy that he's getting more exposure, which he has long deserved. He's also gaining new fans, now that more people are discovering his other work.

So u feel the band should've picked a singer that sucked gargantuan dong, and then publicly mock him in interviews.
Do you hear yourself, man?!?!?!
What the fuck are you talking about

What the hell did Steve A do to them?

You make it sound like he was tarred and feathered in the public square.
Augeri was sent packing and had a very good 8-year run.
Grow up, u big dumb baby.

Noted.

Hey, Dean, why don't you share so we can all "have a clue"? You keep avoiding the questions many people directly asked you in other topics - WHY do you now love JSS when you didn't 2 weeks ago? What did he or someone else tell you or show you to make you change your mind? Maybe the rest of us would like to see what's so fucking great about Jeff Scott Soto being in Journey. Stop acting like the self-important secret-keeper of the band, doing what you personally think the fans need. If you don't want people to know, don't drop hints. Jesus H. Christ on a pogo stick...

Or maybe you need Dave to break the news for you again?
