And IF the entire musical climate changes and rock is popular again.

I disagree. It's the label that MAKES you popular. Say Journey records a pretty kick ass song and a label signs them and agrees to promote it. That same label also has clients like Ashlee or Jessica Simpson. All it would take is a plug by one of those skanks and you're virtually popular overnight. Music is force-fed these days. As bittersweet as it would be, I'd take it. The more traditional route would be Perry. Sony would snatch Journey up just to keep the catalog selling. And it would be unbelievable if a Perry-led Journey could become popular once more. Greatest Hits would probably move into the top 5 selling albums of all-time. This is all just pure speculation of course.

Yeah, waves? About as big as if Neal farts in the ocean.

I have seen the fucking light. I was wrong a month ago. Jeff Fucking Soto can flatout, fucking sing, like I have never heard before with the exception of course of Steve Perry, the best ever, and trust me, they are not far apart........

Jeff is the shit, Neal is the shit, if Friga would stop shaving his balls, could be the shit too........Of course, Deen is the shit already and Ross, well, who cares about Ross..I can play fucking bass....
.[/quoet]

So, Journey is a bunch of shit....and this coming from a guy who has an avatar of a pile of shit. I guess you should know shit when you're around it.

I am offering my services....I will get shit done for these fuckers. They made a mistake, fucked up, cleaned up, improved ten fold, and I am here saying, let's rock.

LOL...you can't get anything 'done' for these guys. You've tried, supposedly.

Fuck all you Perry only fans. I love SP, but I am here to say you Perry onlies want Journey to fail..I say, "eat the corn out of my shit." I am a Journey fan..A Real Journey fan, a live Journey fan, and I KNOW this incarnation will do so OJ Simpson on people.........

So, now that you've fucked the Perry fans, you're willing to toss them aside and move on to JSS fans. When someone new comes along, and you're tired of fucking with them, you'll toss them aside for the fans of the newest new guy...and he'll be the shit, and blah, blah, blah.

I love this lineup. THIS lineup is the shit.

It's shark shit. They've jumped the shark post-Perry.

Ain't going to happen. If Journey released "Open Arms", as a new song today, it would go nowhere. No album from Journey in the future will even sell as well as Arrival...especialy without a label.

The concerts have already sold well through out the last 8 years...so there is no real comback there...its already going on!

Correct...but it can definitely go downhill.

And people think Back Talkers are delusional?

Journey's not coming back to radio.

Its all in the timing!!! They need a song THAT NEAL really hates... that way someone higher than the band can say---that is the song you need on the CD. LOL... Think Tina Turner and Whats love got to do with it, or Journeys Open Arms.. etc...

Rick

You're dreaming. You may as well wait for that new Perry album that Saint John keeps going on about...you have about as much of a chance hearing that as you do new Journey songs on the radio.

Even then, Journey wouldn't make the career decisions that would lead to them becoming a viable recording band again...they're pretty much set in their ways as a touring nostalgia act, even with JSS singing. (note that they don't even bother doing any post-Perry songs anymore)

Actually, with JSS singing, theare even MORE of a nostalgia act because they basicaly ignore the Arrival/Red 13/Generations songs.

I think they can keep this level of touring up, as long as they are playing about 75% greatest hits and 25% new material with Soto. I don't think they could pull off playing a larger percentage of new stuff without Perry selling it to the audience..and those days are over. Great that they've got Soto to help them carry on. I think he has enough front-man charisma and vocals going for him to allow them to step up their game and finally put the Augeri thing in the past. I certainy don't think Soto has anywhere near the vocal abilties of Perry. Dude was in a league of his own. (Still is in many respects, IMO) However, .Soto blows Augeri out of the water all night, every night. If Soto had more popularity in the states, it might help them get a label that would give them at least some minimal support, which is better than NONE. Radio? Their chance for radio left with Perry. Even a Perry-led Journey would have difficulty in that area, given the crap that is force-fed to the radio stations now. A Soto/Journey is a good option for them as far as staying on the road till either Jon is sick of the road or they are ready to do something else. They went as far as they could with Augeri and no writing chemistry. I got the impression Schon and Cain were bored out of their skulls with his offerings. Soto will at least bring something fresh and that can't be a bad thing at this point.

Deano,

I heard the boots and seen Journey live at Indy. The boots sounded just like what I heard at Indy first hand ... they sucked. I'm not saying Jeff is a bad deal because he's not. He's great singer, has good moves and excellent stage presence. The bottom line, Journey does not sound like Journey with JSS singing.

However, I keep hearing the big change will take place when the band takes their 3 week hiatus. When the hiatus is over, I'd like to hear a boot of next couple of shows to see how it shakes out. I hear you saying the last half of the tour JSS will come into it. I'm up for a listen of the boot where Jeff is "on" so to speak. Do you have one coming? This is the last chance for the band with me. If you can show me the light you've seen let me know.

And just for clarity, did you say "this line up is the shit" or "this line up is shit"? :) (just kidding)

L8r dude,

Aaron

Well it ain't with JSS! Nothing distinctive AT ALL. I guess the music scene has become so dismal, adequate is worthy of a five star review.

I know you are big on spell check. What about gutter mouth check, dude?! Ever hear of the King's English! Might be a nice change up for you, since you are "born again". :!:

Good point here. There seemed to be some excitement when they wrote Arrival. Maybe becos they still had a label tho? Red13 was a chance they took which didn't fly. Generations, I dont know what that was supposed to be really. But I think the toll of Augeri's vocal issues wore on them. Maybe w/out that issue, they can focus on writing. And JSS can write so it brings new energy.

I remember talking with a few program directors back when Arrival came out. They all said pretty much the same thing. "Yeah we listened to it, but it aint Perry" "It's a clone" etc .....

JSS does bring interest because he does not sound like Perry or Augeri for that matter. That alone will cause some folks to be currious.

If Van Halen had replaced Roth with a look alike/sound alike, would they have been succesful?

JSS brings his fans along fo rthe ride...Augeri did not unless you count his coworkers from the Gap where he worked at the time or some Tall Stories fans from 10 years ago. (Sidenote...Tall Stories is a great cd...Augeri rocks on it)

Another thing JSS brings to the table is an international audience.

The casual fan aint really gonna care too much...They just come for DSB, Open Arms, etc....

I saw 2 shows so far and the fans were going nuts.

The upside on this huge.
