That leg is frigging grueling. 80 min setkist or not.
JSS, eat your spinach, Bro.

Have we debuted The Place In Your Heart yet? Anybody know all the setlists? If so, what other than the dozen has been covered?

They opened with Faith In The Heartland on July 10th in West Palm Beach. That's the only thing new they played though.

Use of a click track doesn't mean it's not live. It's simply a means for the musicians to remain in time with each other. Lots of good musicians use it.

Andrew, I've gotten word of a Journey date of October 28th in Bloomington, IL. It sounds like this person is 95-99% sure that that will be the date of the show. The place they are playing isn't that big, IMO (about 6,000). Surely that date isn't with Leppard, is it?

Not live. Click track means they're using tracks. Either vocal (backups) or keys.

Actually, that would be a backing track, not a click track. A click track is a different thing altogether. Some musicians use a click track AND backing track that are synchronized together.

Judging by the schedule, the band has learned nothing about singers voices and too many dates.

Of course not. Vocalists are disposable to them.

I KNOW what a click track is. There's no reason to use one UNLESS they're using backing tracks and they have to keep in sync with them. I have a hard time that Castronovo would need a click track to play in time.

Just think of the possibilities if they'd been careful about too many dates and their singer from day one of the band...

My apologies. That wasn't obvious by your previous post. It seemed as if you were confusing a click track with a backing track.

Anyway, I'm not an expert on how exactly they are used but it does seem as if some musicians use them without also having a backing track. However, I'm sure if you asked Steve Smith about playing with click tracks, he'd probably tell you that those that use them are no less a musician than those that don't. Some musicians prefer them. Others prefer the slightly "looser" feel that you get when you don't use one.

Click Tracks are predominantly used when a band needs to synch up pre-recorded backing vocals/keyboards/special effects or to synch up with video productions. Look at DL this tour; running video in the back drop, probably click tarcking to sycn that and those big-arena, monster chorus vocals. Nothing wrong with this at all; it's actually become quite the norm in the biz.
