Also one of Neal's finest hours.
Your opinion. Bored the shit out of me.
The_Noble_Cause wrote:I'm not referring to Svante the sound tech guy. I'm talking about a notable musician on the Noticeboard forum of this very site. He was shouting from the hilltops about what Augeri was doing long before Deano broke it.
That was before I came over here. Never saw it. Send me to the posts, I'd be interested...

I was told a long time ago that Neal's guitar parts where concocted by someone else, and that Neal got undeserved credit- a frequent industry practice.
Normally I wouldn't lend such a theory any credibility, but Neal is on record saying he wasn't even in the room when the album was being made.
Makes you wonder.....
Wow, haven't heard that quote before...

The_Noble_Cause wrote:How do you figure?
I think Neal's hallmarks are all over TBF. As gasbag Monker commonly says, "it sounds like Beyond the Thunder only with vocals!"
His PLAYING and style are all over it. But look at writing credits. You ("deary"

) were saying that because Augeri's credit was at the end of the list of writers that it meant nothing. I was countering saying that Neal's name is at the end of TBF songs, so does that mean he didn't really write them? I say it doesn't mean that. Same with Augeri. Yeah, I would say a lot of it does sound like Beyond the Thunder. Like Beyond the Thunder sat on FTLOSM.
brywool wrote: You're just kind of bent on negating Augeri's contribution to anything.
The_Noble_Cause wrote: Bullshit. I give credit where credit is due. "Tall Stories" is a stellar work and Augeri deserves to be lauded for it.
As for his contributions in Journey, well, they don't amount to a hill of beans, sadly.
Again, I don't agree with you on the Journey stuff.
brywool wrote: I'm not saying the guy's the greatest or anything. I'm just saying, he actually did bring stuff to the party. From the 3 concerts I've heard of JSS, he does not.
The_Noble_Cause wrote:I thought we were talking about writing credits here, not concert boots.
If you want to pit JSS's credits up against Augeri's, I assure you JSS is the clearcut victor.
I thought we were talking about contribution period?
Regarding Augeri and where he appears on the song credits, who cares?
The_Noble_Cause wrote:I do. It means alot. A frontman who doesn't actively contribute in the creative process is merely an empty cipher.
I dunno. Robin Zander's sang Rick Nielsen songs forever and he kicks major ass, yet had nothing to do with writing some of CTs biggest hits. Geddy Lee didn't write most of the Rush lyrics, yet it works great for him.
Like I said, we don't agree. It's not that big of a deal.
