Andrew,

The way I see it, Dean throws lots of bait out there. In fact, massive chum surrounds his boat quite often.

I'll admit I baited Dean a bit yesterday. But, I didn't force him to write the words that you gave him time out for. Even if I would like to claim responsibility for Dean's time out (which I don't), there is no way I can. You see, for that to be a reality, I took him out in two posts. That isn't possible.

I hope you let Dean back early.

Dean,

I'm sorry, man. Overall, you do seem to be a good guy. I am thrilled that you have so much passion for Journey, as anybody in their right mind should! I look forward to a better relationship with you in the future.

Ok.. we can move forward now.

Aren't you on BT most of the time? I picture you looking for a medal to polish up,sort of like Mutley (cartoon character from the 60's). Better put your fishing or baiting pole away before the 2nd coming.

You obviously didn't catch the sincerty within my previous post.

I think perhaps it's you baiting at this point in time? No?

Hey, Brian! How goes it?

Anyway, Dean's responsible for his own actions. If he bit on the bait, that's his loss.

But people know how defensive Deano gets, and baiting him is horseshit. ESPECAILLY knowing how he'll respond. It was done on purpose. THAT'S what I don't like.

I totally agree with Escape on this......unfortunately for you, all you did yesterday was increase Deano's standings to near cult status. My philosophy on this site is treat long time posters with respect even if at times they get abusive and plain stupid, took me two years to get some sort of place on this board and I'm still very much a lightweight and want to stay that way...there are clever and pleasant people on here and Deano is most definitely one of them (clever you hear, perhaps not pleasant  ). I'm not Deano chum...absolutely not, the only thing we have in common is a twisted sense of humour and he's been a good sport to let me tap into that. No doubt somewhere down the line me and D will cross swords, it's a common occurrence and sometimes can only be avoided by going silent and biting your bottom lip! I act like a jester on here, that's how I fit in. I can, through pictures take the piss out of virtualy anybody I like but here's the good part it's not real, it's totally not real...it's just a total piss take and most people know that 8) Except one utter prick who unfortunately is more up and down than Pamela's tits when jogging

I visit MR to get my weekly updates on Journey, you see other than the CD's and DVD's I own...I know absolutely fuck all about Journey, their History, group members, management...I simply enjoy what they churn out and put on the shelf to buy....even TBF which will surprise a few people  I haven't even got Generations, not because I don't want it, just can't seem to get hold of it....! Unlike the 'Other' forum I don't need reassurance from other members that I'm welcome, they either like or dislike me here, I don't ever go over there to start a fight but it seems it's oh so easy to turn up here and start one. The 'Other' forum is fair game to poke fun at but that's all it is 'Fun' Life should be full of it and not taken too seriously....I genuinely feel sorry for some people who get so caught up in all this band worship, it's sad.

So anyway to get back to why I posted, I respect a person who apologises but this made me laugh a little.............

Andrew,

I applaud you for allowing much more than any other rock band forum would allow. At the same time, every forum has to have some kind of boundaries or there would be complete chaos. Thank you for allowing us to participate in your forums. YOU ROCK ANDREW!!!

Cheers Voyager,
I appreciate that post a lot. Many official artist messages boards are heavily modderated (can't blame them for that, most are this way as the artists rightly control them)...but I like to think these forums here can offer fans an opportunity to both prise the band and discuss areas which might not be so positive - again, most artists make mistakes sometimes and fans should be able to discuss.

Keeping such discussion rolling without open warfare takes up a bit of time on my part, but I also appreciate the intelligence of the majority here, which all in all, makes for a great place for a lot of folks to visit and a great place to debate various issues.

Sadly it doesn't always run smoothly when personalities clash. I hope the majority here will continue to be tolerant and respectful of everyone participating.

I'm rambling now I think...time to sign off. Thanks again anyway...

With the greatest of respect for you and mr.com, Andrew (I've been a regular visitor since 1996 but strangely only discovered this particular forum thanks to Dean and his blog) but the timing of this week-long ban does seem very odd. On checking Deano's "body of work" on this board, the outburst that earned him his enforced holiday doesn't seem much different to the stuff he comes out with on a daily basis - unless of course, he provoked it himself by saying there's a reason you don't ban him. I suppose that could have been the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

So it could be a coincidence that you've banned him just before he was due to see Journey in concert and meet up with your friend JSS. I was eagerly awaiting his full report on both events. I wouldn't like to think that he'd been gagged to prevent that happening and very much hope that the timing of this ban is sheer coincidence.

You must not watch as closely as you think then. I say what I think about Dean but we get along pretty well. Dean even commented that he liked me, even though I am a religious conservative. I don't like seeing anyone banned unless they're totally psycho, like Joe Reardon.

WTF?

I have no idea what Deano is upto or how is planning to spend his time. He's had week long holiday's before and if he's hooking up with the band I'm sure we'll hear about it soon.

I don't know about all that. I mean, I'm seriously trying to make amends here. But, are you saying it's a one way street regarding Dean? Only Dean is allowed to bait & throw chum just because he gets so defensive? C'mon now? You have got to be kidding me!

So Andrew's made the decision that Deano has crossed the line that he is willing to put up with. Maybe it was the four letter name calling, maybe it was the Andrew endorses the things I say by not banning me. Sure some of the stuff he says is entertaining. Like Andrew said, Deano is his own worst enemy.

But Andrew has to draw the line somewhere. And now that he has made a decision, he is being taken to task for it.

Hopefully, Deano cools down a bit and is a little more reflective when he comes back. At least for a couple of minutes.

Andrew has been more than tolerant with everyones behavior on here. We should support his decisions.

Hey, Andrew -
Thanks for putting up with as much as you do, man. It's fun to watch from this side, (most of the time) but it can't be easy from your end... I honestly have never been in a forum where the administrator works sooo hard trying to skate that freedom of speech/insanity line. And it's probably why it's the best forum, imho. Kudos!

In all seriousness,  do you have to give timeouts in your other forums, or are we your only romper room?
