Isn't that just the DVD soundtrack?

I really doubt there's an original un-pro-tooled soundboard of that show.

It would be cool if there was just to compare it to the finished product, you know?

Seconded. They're just not around after '86.

Why is that?

Oh, Perry never required that kind of doctoring, did he?

Soundboards just became harder to come by. Industry-wide. It wasn't just Journey.

I don't know its provenance. The guy who supplied it to me called it "Resurrection" and it has mainly tracks from Mandalay Bay, LV Dec 30 2001 plus 4 tracks which are labeled as being from LA April 5 2001.

Whatever.

I am ripping it now and I'll upload it later.

I'm kinda surprised Journey w/Augeri never did a radio broadcast. Doing a live concert radio broadcast is one of the few ways to get your new music on the radio in the States for classic rock bands....the classic rock stations won't play Generations but they still play concert specials fairly often (usually on Sundays, I think...I don't know, I don't have a radio anymore). I have a Kansas bootleg from 2003 from a radio show (so I could have their cover of "Uninvited"), so I figure if they can do it, so could Journey.

If I was Journey's management, that's the first thing I would've done after the band got a few months under their belts with Augeri: have a concert taped for radio broadcast, so that people curious about the new lineup would get a chance to hear it, and at the same time hear a couple of new songs too.

I remember when the Van Halen 3 tour started, one of the very first shows was filmed and broadcast on MTV...it didn't seem to help the album or the tour that much, but at least they weren't afraid to put their new singer on display for the general public.

Walrus, would that happen to be from the show they did with Paul Rodgers at the Grove of Anaheim? I have Paul's set from that night on a Westwood One radio show disc, and I remember well Kansas doing that Alanis song (big Kansas fan, BTW...going to see them again at the Grove on 9/8, in fact).

Yeah, I grabbed it off the old Sharing the Troove bittorrent site a few years ago. Kind of redundant since it covers most of the same ground as Device Voice Drum, but that Alanis thing was pretty sweet. (and possibly the most random cover version ever). I saw them in Detroit in 2003 and 2004, great shows, although the Paul Rodgers tour was kind of annoying since Kansas only played for an hour or so, and I really don't care about Paul Rodgers. (BadCo = most overplayed singles ever)

Although I ended up having to sit through "Feel Like Making Love" on the Queen tour this year anyway...serves me right. Rodgers is a great vocalist, but I really can't stomach BadCo's "hits" anymore just because I've heard them so many damn times.

The last time I saw them was a few months after the DVD show, which I also attended. They opened for REO Speedwagon and only played for about 45 minutes. Most of their best songs are just too long to fit into a set that short.

Thanks a lot. No La Raza Del Sol, Send Her My Love or Fillmore Boogie from the Las Vegas soundboard? I have them on the audio rip from the DVD. I know the file is listed as "Higher PLace / Send Her My Love", but SHML is not there.

Any idea where I can still find Uninvited? I got to hear it live a few times, however I haven't seen a boot

Those tracks labeled as being from Los Angeles sound more like rough studio tracks or perhaps from a radio broadcast.

They did. In support of Arrival they were live on various stations at varying times across the country. I forget the details of this radio blitz.
On one station they broke into "Whose Crying Now".
Sounded good!

Oh more than likely! Truthfully, I haven't played the thing in a long while - in fact I'd forgotten about it until I found it in a stack of data CDs in the office.

:? If that is truly a soundboard boot of the Mandalay Bay Vegas show from December 30, 2000...then where is Message Of Love? I know that song was played but edited from the DVD, so this leads me to believe that this is just the audio ripped from the 2001 DVD, or maybe the DirectTV free view thing?

Wouldn't a soundboard recording be devoid of loud ambient (audience) noise?

Sounds quite a bit like my Live 2001 DVD.

TYVM for these. Just downloaded & I'm listening as I type. I was never an Augeri fan but he does sound nice on many of these songs. He has a nice easy listening kind of voice. It's soft. Not Steve Perry, no but pleasant. I had no idea how much he reached to hit the high notes tho even back then. It is almost painful at times. U didn't really notice that at concerts. I guess they doctored up all these "reaches" on the DVD so u couldn't hear them.

As I listen to boots of him I actually get more appreciation for him than I ever had. He really tried hard back then. He even tries to add his own little ad libs in with notes he has trouble hitting. & he definitely has/had talent. Probably more than I ever gave him credit for to be honest. Ive been a bit too critical maybe.

I end up feeling a bit sorry for him. This was a dream come true for him I guess. He couldnt just admit it was more than his voice could do. Here's what gets me. U know how he talked in all those interviews about taking care of his voice? I wonder how difficult it really was for him. If he was struggling to hit the highs back then in 2000 he was already straining his voice. I bet he had a sore throat more than anyone knows or ever will.
