Well, it is safe to say he was NOT a good pick.

He has never been good enough to put out a live disc. Think about it: Warfield? Nope. Vegas? Not live, studio vocals. Dalls? Never see a shelf. His voice wasn't heard for a year...until he was exposed.

He is just not good enough, and sadly now, cannot make it out of the first round on Americaon Idol. He will never sing a note for Journey again.

The truth is that Neal and Jon have worked with some of the GREATEST vocalists and record producers EVER. They KNOW talent and found SA capable. I think that speaks for itself.

It's easy to have hindsight and criticize but I applaud JOURNEY for having the vision to go with SA when they did. It took guts to move forward with a "no name" just as they did when they brought in SP.

I would have begged Chalfant and Rolie back. They already had songs done so the chemistry would be there. I would have also re-hired Herbie Herbert. I wonder if those Chalfant/Rolie Journey songs will ever see the light of day. Herbert has said on many occasions that the stuff they were doing was gonna "make people forget about Steve Perry." While I wouldn't go that far, I bet is was good stuff. Chalfant could/can sing circles around Augeri.
