Hate to "coat tail" you here, but I agree strongly with that statement

Augeri is the "stooly", the "schmuck" the "fall guy", whilst the rest are sitting pretty, sickening really

Anyone got access to a "vomitting" smilie icon? really could have done with it there, damn

There's no need to take this out on the bassist, guitarist, or drummer.
This is about a vocalist's shortcomings.
Look at it this way, as with Perry, Augeri could no longer hack it and was sent packing.

Think the point is, man, the whole sorry way it has been mis handled.

Fair enough.
The 30th anniversary tour was different though.
The tour had already begun when it became apparent that Augeri would not be able to perform nightly.
As Neal and Andrew discussed at the start of the tour........

Neal: If he doesn't get back on path, it's going to be a long tour.

Andrew: What do you guys do in that scenario? Do you ride with it?

Neal: You have to ride with it…yeah, absolutely. Pick up the pieces what ever way we have to

What an absurd analogy. Firstly, Augeri knew exactly what he was doing. There was no "accident".

Second...I'm sure he has been or will be given a decent pay-off...and there are a hundred mawkish posts on BT expressing sympathy for his 'throat infection'.

Augeri was the man who knowingly performed the deception...so let's not portray him as a victim...

That to me says the band was willing to go to the extent of tapes to "pick up the pieces". If Augeri was quoted saying this, I suppose I could blame him more.

If it was apparent that Augeri couldn't perform nightly, then "picking up the pieces" should have had options other than tapes. Even if they had fired him at that point, it would have looked better because they didn't resort to stupid things like lip-synching.

Augeri's appeal? That would be that he isn't in Journey anymore. If he gets his voice back he can reunite his old band and sing songs that are written for his style and range. Dude's style just never really appealed to me at all. God knows I tried, but every time I'd pump Arrival, 13 or Generations through the house or car speakers, I was not all that stoked. For me it's gonna take more than red leather, a wiggle (puke), or writing a couple songs for ONE CD in the last 8 years with my favorite band to garner appeal.

I honestly tried to like him. There are a few songs on Arrival that I like, but I still never put that cd in. He just never grew on me. His voice always sounded strained, thin, hoarse to me. And he was a bit too feminine for my taste.

I am NOT blasting the man!!!!!

This is just my opinion of why I never accepted him in Journey.

He probably wouldn't like me, either...

Thank's knox, this is basically all I was saying, he just never did it for me. Now, hopefully, my fave band can come up with something new with JSS. Waiting to see what happen's next! :)

Augeri's appeal: well he never did it for me like Perry did. In BTM I thought he was kinda homely. I couldnt imagine seeing Journey w/out Perry. Then someone threw the Tall Stories CD at me & I thought ok maybe. 1st time I saw Journey w/Augeri I was honestly just happy to see Journey again. It wasn't the same but it wasn't as awful as I expected. Next time I was up at the stage the whole nite & Augeri seemed nice to the fans. He looked like he was trying hard. It was still somewhat disappointing but it was entertainment. So many bands going on w/out their original members. But u still want a nite out. So what are u gonna do? That was my thought. I heard lots of women say Augeri was sexy, nice bod, great hair, etc. I didnt see all that just not my type. But I saw a guy trying hard to entertain. I still want Journey w/Perry. I still can't have that. Most likely I never will. So I had to make do.

Augeri's appeal? Great voice and every show I've attended with him in the band he interacted with the audience as much as Jon Cain did....I've never been disappointed. Couldn't have been a better fit, IMHO. :D

I was pleased that Journey continued and Augeri made this happen, living in the UK the band never toured so i never got to see them.I have seen them twice in the states and twice here so again Steve being in the band made this happen.I always thought he was a good front man,but no Perry in voice or stage presance, but good all the same! :)
He worked hard in the band and was a nice guy to the fans, unfortunatley that means nothing now as everything he tried to achieve replacing Perry has gone to shit with the fact he used tapes to get through shows,a tragic waste that could have ended so much better. He will always be the guy who lipped he deserved better.
I read in an interview which a lot of people on BT were upset about that Perry refered to him as fishbait or something?? Not very nice BUT what if Perry new what was going on with tapes? We know he did not want Journey to continue,so can you imagine what he thought if he knew this and lets be honest if i could find out ( i knew before i had evan heard of Deano's blog) then dont you think he could? I know this is a bit off subject but it came to mind :?

"Jilling Off" is what most women I've heard refer to it as. What can I say, my wife and her friends like to talk about that stuff...

Anyway... I agree that the only appeal he had for me was seeing Journey live again. He never did anything good for me though as far as writing a REAL hit song or helping to get them played on a regular basis on the radio. I hope JSS can do that for them. Or at least get them talked about in a good light for once.
