Here's a thought on Augeri's situation

Postby Carlitto H@kk » Thu Aug 24, 2006 3:43 am

I posted this in another thread but thought it deserved it's own...

All the Tape-Gate and who's in/who's out speculations aside, has anyone ever considered that...

Maybe Augeri was ready to step-down, for whatever reason he might have, and this turned out to be the perfect opportunity???

It is kunda strange that, with all the threads dedicated to him and constantly updated over at BT, Augeri nor his wife has replied at all. Maybe that's because, not only is he really healing up his voice but, he's contemplating his next venture and just waiting for the right time to come public with it??? Maybe he thinks his time with Journey has given him enuff leverage to get Tall Stories revved up again. Hell, there just might really be a TS's tour planned for next year.
It's just with all the silence and generic "Official Statements", it is possible Steve decided to leave the band on his own and, to save face AND ticket sells, he and the band are going to let this linger on until this current jaunt is finally over.

Does anyone know what prompted Augeri to contact his old bandmates in Tall Stories last December? Or why it was suddenly a good idea to complete that second TS album?

Here's the thing....the concert I went to on this tour (San Antonio) was all the old Journey stuff, pre-Augeri.....so, why is there a problem that he isn't doing the gig? If they were singing new stuff I could see why they really need him, but they have inertia going right now and JSS is perfect for the job because he has the power and he's in the cusp of the generation that is attending these concerts. Augeri kept the embers going for Journey and its unfortunate that he couldn't be around when they Burst Into Flames....but why put a blanket over it? They are rockin and rollin and what not and he's back on bed rest....if they do any more venues for Arrival and Generations music I could see him possibly returning or back to the studio with them. by the way I like SA alot, but JSS is getting the job done nicely and hopefully Journey has a future. They've done at least FITH if not TPIYH with JSS. They'll keep playing the Augie-era, but your're gonna have to wait for An Evening With to hear more of them.

Good question. I'd like to know the answer to that as well. Wasn't GENERATIONS done because Augeri was working on a "solo" CD? Maybe he had contacted his old band mates at that point. Sure sounds like he was ready to move out on his own at that point.

Steve said in an interview with Andrew that a European label contacted him about Tall Stories.

Kind of interesting to go back and read this now:

I would imagine that if Augeri was ready to leave the band...he would have done so gracefully...not amid a shitstorm of controversy.

He was always in contact w/his TS bandmates. They were good friends. At least that is what he said at a MNG I was at when asked. He also said he is always writing songs hoping to create something Top 40 worthy. Ok he's a dreamer. Arent we all?

Even if he wanted out, he wouldn't have done that to himself.

Would you discredit yourself and effectively end your career just so you can get out of a band?

I think he'd be an eejit if he did that.

That's how I see it also. The way he went out was not pretty. He could have jumped off before it started and saved some face. This was very disjointed.

I felt sorry for Augeri at the beginning, but am feeling less and less so nowdays!

Carlitto, has it ever occurred to you that the Augeri's might have more on their minds than answering a fan board???????? Why everyone thinks that just because we are fans we deserve a response directly from them is beyond me. He is off the tour and according to "official" word, his condition is being monitored by his physician. Can we just stop beating THIS dead horse now?

Last November when I met Steve in CT I asked him about Tall Stories and he said he was already in contact with his old bandmates and they were working on something. No mystery. No reason why he shouldn't be. Apparently back in 1991 there was enough material left for a second cd. Neal had Soul Sirkus last year so why all the fuss that Steve is working with his Tall Stories bandmates????

Why would Steve want out of Journey?
If it was because his voice was suffering than he waited too long.

For fucks sake, I was only wondering out loud; that's what we ALL do here! And it's an angle that hasn't been mentioned before, to my knowledge, so I asked! Geez, you must really be the expert since you talked to Steve a year ago...
Besides, other than trading boots and tour reviews, what the hell else are we going to discuss??? What the guys are wearing on stage??? "Oh, who was Jesse in 'Still They Ride'???" This ain't BT; some conspiracy and controversy and SAYING WHAT'S ON OUR MINDS is actually allowed and fun hear!
And YES, for the love of God, with all the multiple, syrupy threads for Augeri running rampant at BT by his loyal followers, I DO think He or at least Lydia should at least say SOMETHING, like "Thanks for your prayers", "Getting well, hoping to see you all soon..."

Fans are what puts a roof over their heads and food on the table. In a sense we are their "employers". So indeed the fans do have every right to a response, however brief, especially those holding vigils on BT.

Please don't follow in the great pile o'stupidity's footsteps here with the immediate BT references. All of your posts are begging for Steve to say something to the fans...I sense you're the only one here who feels empty because of it. I don't feel he has to reply to me or anyone else...ever. It's been a rough year personally for his family without all the crap that went on here.

No I am not an expert but I was relaying what he had told me when I asked him. Just trying to shed some light that the Tall Stories thing was in the works for a while.

Talk about JSS and the new direction the band is taking right now for this tour. I'm sure you have alot to say about that, and I mean that in a good way.

"Wigglers" LMAO.

This is what drives me mad. The augeriheads bash everyone who dares suggest that it's impolite for the augeri camp not to say a word to fans. They jump down anyone's throat if they dare to suggest anything negative about him. At the same time they pour out prayers & love 100 times a day on BT. They unquestioningly adore him & defend him. Even when he's being rude & not true to his fans by coming out to say a simple thank u for ur prayers. Their undying devotion makes me wonder if they'd support him even if he raped children. It's ridiculous. I admit to being a perryloon. But I don't think everything the man did in his life is "perfect". I've criticized things he did. I was never an augerihead but I've said nice things about him. There's good & bad in everyone even ffs. Augeri can't be bothered to acknowledge his fans' undying devotion. That's rude. He doesn't have to comment on tapegate, provide his dr's report, etc. Just say TY. Oh I'm so wrong for asking for that tho. At least JSS posts & communicates w/us when he can. Fans like people who acknowledge their support. We buy the records. We buy the concert tickets. Is it really any wonder JSS is building such a strong fanbase?
