This is certainly a point when people need to stop comparing to Perry. JSS is indeed his own voice, not trying to sound too much like someone else. I even kinda like the fact that he's not afraid to go against the trends of wearing tight pants. And certainly not leather ones at that. Didn't that trend go out with the Scorpions?

Aww man, leave the Scorps alone. They're German, they don't know any better.

Klaus is a trendsetter. JSS needs a tambourine on stage too. All singers should copy the tambourine. It doesnt matter that you cant hear the fucking thing.

hahaha, I loved the Scorps back in the 80's and early 90's, still love the music. Just saying as you know that leather is out. Tambourines? Now your talking! I'm thinking Partridge family. MMM Susan Dey!

Crap, now JSS is gonna kick my ass about the leather.

Oh come on please. Click the link below. Close your eyes. That is what Steve Perry sounds like singing this song. Jeff does NOT sound like Steve Perry. Here we go again.

I wholeheartedly agree. No one....but no one sounds like Steve Perry.

I'm happy that Journey has some ummpphh back with JSS, but there's no question it'll never sound like it was with SP.

Absolutely no disrespect to JSS...he's unreal! But the minute you step in to someone like Perry's shoes, the comparisons are inevitable. The quest for JSS is to deliver the songs in respect to SP, but to stamp them with his own flair of style and voice. Then I, as a fan, will always respect that. JSS has the goods. His challenge will be to take your eyes off the "SP eightball", otherwise it won't work.

the best part Chad, is that JSS isn't Perry's replacement. The comparison's aren't there like they were for Augeri, nor should they be. The only Shoes Jeff has to fill are his own.

I agree. I don't think anyone's going to compare JSS with SA. JSS out-powers, out-sings and out-performs SA hands down. I think the primary issue when SA took over was that he was an emulation of Perry...and that's a no win situation. Period. It's not SA's fault, that's just how he sings. He just happens to sound like a decaffinatted version of Perry....and so would anyone else.

With JSS, he's got the goods to take it to a different place. From the boots though, he does seem like he's straining. I just hope they compensate for this...I don't want to see him hurt the vocal chords.

totally agree chad. but the rigors of the road and singing hard songs not meant for you voice can get to you sometimes. If something happened to Jeff's voice because of this, then no one in their right mind would go for the job of lead singer ever again.

I just wish there was a way I could hear JSS do some Queen numbers live & some of his own music too. I suppose the average Journey fan would never accept that. But what a total shame. That would really be a show worth seeing. Have him do the best of Journey stuff & the best of Queen & the best of his own tunes.

(Oh yeah my favorite Queen song is Innuendo & I suppose most wouldnt consider that the best of Queen anyway.) I'm dreaming again.
