You know what, Monker, bite me ! The reason I like JSS fronting the band is because he doesn't sound anything like Steve Perry !

So what. I don't think Augeri nor Chalfant sound much like Perry. Neither does Jamison. Dave Bickler did, in a way. I thought "Summer Nights" was a Journey song the first time I heard it.

Now you know Perry was one if his favorite singers, influened him

I really don't care about that. Augeri said Robert Plant was an influence...doesn't mean he should be singing for Led Zeppelin.

and I, for one, like JSS style in singing Journey songs. He isn't trying to sound like Perry, he is his own man.

He's trying to sound like Journey when that's not his natural sound.

Life is a journey, change happens, and if you don't like it, that is on you. It must be sad in your world. :D

Nope...I'm quite happy. My life doesn't revolve around Journey, the way many other's seems to.

I believe change is what is needed in Journey, and thank god JSS has his own style ! He is doing justice to the songs. You may not like it, but others do. Quit trying to tear JSS down for not sounding like Journey.

Very true...!

Elvis was one of a kind....not only as a singer, but a performer as well...of course, he may not have aged 'gracefully'...but when he was in his prime.....damn..!! No one comes close...

Deano,

What the fuck is the deal dude? You've made a complete 180 on your opinion on the band with no explanation that I've seen. I've heard all of the boots prior to Indy and they fuckin sucked. You agreed. I seen them at Indy in person and they sucked, no different than the boots. Now you're the Journey/JSS cheerleader. What's up with that? What's changed that you've seen that's changed your position? I understand you have seen the band since Indy. Was this show the piece that changed the situation for you? Or did you get a good hummer from a groupie that changed your opinion? What gives man?

I'm not baggin on JSS either. He has great stage presence, good moves, excellent leadership and is a great vocalist. The bottom line is that he doesn't sound like Journey. So why do you think they are on the right track now?

Secondly, if Journey now has a shot, how are they different than SS? I don't see Cain or Valory having a huge influence on the sound of the band. World Play got a fair amount of press and didn't do fuck. Schon was even pissed about it and lost money on the deal. So if SS didn't do fuck with World Play, how do you see Journey with JSS being different? If its the music driving the boat, I don't see how Journey is now the shit when SS did fuck all.

What has changed your opinion on the band that I haven't seen? Granted, I haven't heard a boot of any shows post the "long lay off" that was supposed to give JSS his recovery. If someone has a boot of one of the shows after the break, I'd love to hear it. If its better I'll change my opinion. I've seen no evidence that Journey is any better now than they were at Indy.

Chalfant sounds a fuckload more like Journey than JSS so I don't get your position on him. Isn't it about the music first? Did The Storm and Two Fires completely suck?

And Hugo, what's your beef with him? His records are better than Journey's material since 86, he sounds like Journey and rocks harder than Journey has for years. For fucks sakes, Evolution sounds more like Journey than Journey does now. Who's really the cover band?

L8r,

Aaron

Uh dude, not quite.

Perry is retired.
Chalfant is NOT as Good as Jeff.
Jamison is NOT as good as JSS.
Timothy Lewis is NOT as Good as JSS.

Hugo? Jesus Christ.

Dude, you are wrong on all counts.

Kevin Chalfant can't carry jeffs dick in his hands.

Jeff needed 2 weeks rest. he got it, and now obviously kicks serious ass.

Enough said.

This might be the BEST Journey of all time.

I know how the Perry Troopers think. I spent time with them on one of their boards. I was actually asked to be moderator then, but declined. I assumed (wrongly) that once I had gotten to the point of holding no grudges against Journey OR Perry, that all would be right with the world. WRONG! I was quickly and immediately tossed out like the garbage and castigated. This was a number of years ago on the VH-1 board...and it continues to this day.

In one huge sense though, I owe them a big THANKS! Without them, I never would have developed the thick skin I now have and it makes all the difference in the world. NOTHING...and I mean NOTHING they say gets in, yet they continue to try. It's their Holy Mission in life.

I can't quite tell whether it's extremism itself that riles you up - or just one group of extremists.

Essentially, it's the Perry Troopers. They seem to be the most underhanded, secretive, loathesome and sickest of the extremists. Besides, I only have so much energy... :D

And don't worry - I didn't mind at all that you asked me if I was hot for Elvis.

I figured that, Matt, but thanks for confirming. :)

Terrible analogy.
You paid almost $200 fat ones for a lump of a coal.
Now you'll be getting the gift you truly desired in the first place - a certifiable LIVE Journey concert.

Trust me, it'll be well worth leaving the luxury of your Iowan Hog farm.

It's a different question anyway...Journey as they are now are not worth more then a free concert at a casino. That's the bottom line...and I think a lot of people are going to save their money if Journey tries to continue after this and tour solo.

You kidding me? This is entertainment you can't BUY!!! Well, ok, you need an internet connection which costs...but hell, this kinda shit makes my job a living dream...I get to come off stage singing songs that were my musical bible with the greatest band on EARTH to tons of cheering fans & then cuddle up with the laptop & enjoy my 'show'...believe me, this doesn't get under my skin, I learned a LONG time ago, you can't please everyone & there'll always be someone who disapproves. Bottom line, I get to do it all again tomorrow night, I am a lucky man :)

By all means....please continue....the appreciation threads are boring after a while, ha ha!

Thankfully they rectified the problem.

Keep saying that. Maybe it will come true. It's your only hope.
You're like Froy crossing his toes and fingers praying for the Deyoung miracle.
Augeri's absence is soooooo not a huge deal.
People come to hear the catalog and will continue to do so.
