Jeff's the real deal. Jeff's himself…he sings like Jeff Scott Soto. He doesn't sing like somebody else and that's what they needed all along because the rest of the guys in the band are that talented – that good.
So I think it will turn out to be a good move, just too bad it happened so late…and too bad for Steve, cause Steve did a great job filling in for Steve Perry for so many years, because that's what he was doing.
Now maybe Journey can reinvent themselves.
WOW...How insulting...again, not MY words...."filling in for Steve Perry for so many years, because that's what he was doing." FUCK, I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOREVER. Augeri has ALWAYS sucked...anyone who has ever thought he was a significant part of Journey is an idiot. Good riddance you lip-synching piece of shit. Thanks for putting an asterisk next to Journey's name. Good luck at The Gap.

Look SJ I usually like much of what u have to say. But this is over the line. Have u always worked a great paying respected job? If so, lucky u. Did ur Daddy help u out? Bcoz I haven't. I'm in management now but I waited tables, bussed tables, bartended. Fuck I even cleaned houses for a short time. Oh & in college I washed dishes. Very demeaning jobs & they sucked. They were hard work & the most honest money I ever earned in my life. I have a lot of education too. Yes, I went to college & got a 4yr degree. & I worked these jobs. U know I lived in Chicago & when I was there I managed a club. 1 of the bartenders there was an Asst. Mgr at the Gap & u know what, he made a boatload of money doing that job. He bartended 1-2 nites a week as he was saving to buy a house. But he had more money than all of us from the Gap & he was only an Asst. Mgr. Augeri was a MANAGER. Augeri came from a background of music & gave that up & worked an honest living & got promoted to MANAGEMENT. Obviously u don't know that means he was a very good & hard worker. I wasnt a big Augeri W/Journey fan but I admire that after being a musician for most of his 20s & early 30s, he was able to transition into a regular job & get promoted to management. The Gap is corporate & to get into management means u worked ur ass off and played by the rules, went to all the management classes & conferences & did what they said. In the corp. world, u don't get to management w/out a whole lot of hard work. I've been there, done that & I got the tee. U can insult the guy for many things based on ur opinion, u may not have liked his voice, his songwriting, whatever. But dont insult his career prior to joining Journey. That is really really really low & it makes u look like a complete ass to a lot of people. I worked my way into management & it wasn't easy. I manage a club. I guess that is also beneath ur high standards. Maybe I should be a dr. or a lawyer to impress u. But there's a place for everyone in this world. The guy who sweeps the streets or cleans the toilets at the concerts u go to is important bcoz if he didn't do it, the streets & johns would be disgusting. There are people here who are stay-at-home moms. Are they less than the rest of us? No way. They are doing more than I could do & raising kids. I just hope someone as big & wonderful as u never falls on hard times & has to take a job that doesn't quite meet ur high standards. Lots of people do & it doesn't make them less of a person. It makes them MORE, much much MORE of a person. So many people lose their big job & sit around & cry about it. They could make some money delivering pizzas but oh, that's beneath them. Augeri gave up music & took a job w/the Gap to feed his family. He got promoted to management. He had ambition & drive. He was already in his 30s by then. I may not be a huge fan of his Journey tenure, but I'll always admire him doing that. That shows he had balls. My taste in music is one thing. My ability to admire another person for their accomplishments has nothing to do w/that. U owe Augeri an apology for saying this in a public forum. Be a man & withdraw what u said about the Gap.

Steve A has stated that if Steve P wanted to return, he would step aside. Fans felt Steve A was simply being gracious, but now Sammy has said something that should make fans realize that perhaps there was something more to what Steve A meant.

I don't hate SA over TapeGate. Whatever he did or didn't do was NOT his alone. I recall many years ago that SP was rumored to use a "special" microphone!
Whatever. Technology is what it is and how an artist chooses to use it is up to them. Should every JOURNEY album be re-mixed to remove all of the little tricks, too? Of course, not.

Yes, it is up to them - but if the vocals aren't live then it needs to say so on the concert ticket. Otherwise it's deception.

Is there a law about that that I'm not familiar with? Honestly, I never even followed the "scandal" because - as far as I know - "live" concerts are far from "pure." There's LOTS of technology used to make instruments and vocals sound better. Sometimes pre-recorded stuff is used. Personally, I don't care.
