This still baffles me: 1) Deano accuses band of using tapes 2) Band ignores accusations 3) While in Europe a well-known music person acknowledges Journey's deceptive practices. 4) While in Manchester, the vocal track stops and Augeri is forced to sing live....sounding more like the Budweiser frogs. 5) Augeri mysteriously, out of the blue can no longer continue. AND SOME PEOPLE STILL THINK THE BAND DIDN'T USE TAPES. The fact that he hasn't been seen or heard from, coupled with the fact that the band has remained silent is a glowing admission of guilt. Only a fuckin' moron wouldn't be able to figure that out.

On some website Peterik said he was recording in a studio when Perry burst into his studio like a bat out of hell. When fans asked repeatedly about Perry's hip, he claimed he couldn't even tell the dude was injured!
This happened around the time the TBF tour fell through.

Sadly, like so many relics from the past, we can no longer locate the story's source.
However, the forum elders, that cantankerous old bitch Monker in particular, will vouche for it's authenticity.

So what? It's still OPINION until somebody produces something more then "I heard this and it sounds like that. Therefore, it must be taped vocals."

Except Perry himself saying he was fine in radio interviews, when asked specificaly about it by a caller. Then Perry contradicts HIMSELF over and over again...hiking, biking mountain climbing, an 'injury', then arthritis, then a degenerative disease. He couldn't even get his story straight and stick to it. In the BTM, he didn't even go there. He just said something like, "I suddenly had this pain..."

However, that sure as fuck didn't stop you from making it your personal cause to paint Perry a liar at every chance.

That's because he DID lie. Was he fine early in the TBF interviews, as HE said he was? Or, was he still having the 'pain' he mentioned in the BTM? THAT is being caught in a lie.

That's sort of true, Monker. There is more personal talk than Journey talk. However, there is a reason. What exactly is so riveting talking about them playing the Greatest Hits with Def Lippard....going through the motions...I understand that, and it doesn't bother me in the least, but it doesn't make for sensational discussion.

However, when Tapegate was at it's apex, you thought it was too much talk. THAT, was the story of the year on this board, I can guarantee you that. Yet you, not at the forefront, caught off guard, were displeased, and then you pulled out the old, "no evidence there" card. You weren't at the center of it, so you play defender.

The REAL Journey talk will begin as soon as they release the "Augeri is out" statement, and JSS records a NEW CD with them.

That's an interesting observation. Actually before one of the shows last week we were talking to some fans who I think probably represent most Journey fans or at least a large percentage. They check BT & MR infrequently most of the time and then around concert time they start checking more frequently, but rarely or never post. They are not really familiar with JSS's work. They are more interested in just hearing the songs they love. They called MR the national enquirer-like site and were clearly said they had no idea what a lot of the posts were about on MR because they seemed to be about people they didn't know or were "inside jokes".

The interesting think was that several of them have the impression after checking in MR that "the rockn'deano guy" was fed a controversy by the guy who stood to gain something, JSS and his good friend who runs the MR site, since now he (Dean) is talking like he is great friends with "the guy who runs the site" and the new singer and getting passes, etc. Not sure if that is the impression anyone wants out there, but that seems to be a common idea. Fortunately, the casual fan like these people are not that interested in the drama for it to make a difference.
