I know I've vented enough but I thought you would be interested in knowing Jimi's set list. Like I said I thought he and the members of Mephis Blood were kind of making it up as they went a long. Lot's of long breaks between songs etc. Anyway you'll see what I mean by the set list.

One correction. Jimi sang READY FOR LOVE by Bad Company not Feel Like Makin' Love. Sorry still recoering from my trip to see Survivor or was that Memphis Blood, or JJ's Survivor, or the vocalist of Survivor, or.........

What amazes me is that when Jimi was in Survivor they would not play Burning Heart. Now that he is not in Survivor....he is playing it and so is Survivor. Frankie say they can expand their set list now that Jimi is gone, but really what did he add that Jimi can not sing....Take You on a Saturday Night?...big deal. I personally like Jimi's set list better than Frankies although i like Caught In THe Game being added and can do without the Jimi covers...but he is a solo artist now and I guess we can't expect all Survivor. Adding hits by other artist appeals to the non-hardcore Survivor fans I suppose......straightens the setlist. Not that I am not a Dave Bickler fan....I think he had a nice voice I just think the Jimi material was stronger.....a lot has to do with the maturity of Survivor as a band...I think the song writing improved.

It's not Take you on a Saturday Night, it's Take you on a Saturday, from one of my favorite albums. Have you even heard Premonition? RID, I don't think your a diehard fan. I appreciate hearing the older songs. In fact, I'd rather hear album songs than all the hits and I think some of their best weren't even hits.

Slander, how was Jimi's Burning Heart, was it any good? Just curious since Survivor would never perform it with him.

Hey Silver,

I can't stress how awful the band was that night. It was great hearing Burning Heart live but Jimi can only do so much. SURVIVOR IS A SOUND NOT A SINGER...I can't stress that enough to all these JJ people. His band was awful, esepcially the lead guitarist. What good is Survivor's music without the trademark sound of Frankie's guitar?

Well, Pride of Lions plays Survivor songs without FS's guitar.. and they do a great job

Point well taken Survivor 2005. But with that being said Jimi's band is no PRIDE OF LIONS. Jim Peterik was and will always be part of the heart of Survivor. POL can play Survivor tunes all they want. I will say this once again. It's MUSCIANSHIP my friends. Listen I have no beef with Jimi. I think he's great and he's a great guy to boot. All I've said is after 7 hours of drving I deserve to hear the Survivor sound!

Yes, I have the Lp for Premonition. But it didn't do anything for me. Listened to it once. Only Dave cd I have is Caught In The Game. I like most of that cd. Am I a diehard guess not but I have enjoyed Survivors Music. Got all the Jimi cds but the new one. Don't have it probably just because I never saw it in the store and am too lazy to buy it on the web. But from what I heard you diehards where not that much into it anyways.....I myself have found when bands from 'the eighties' release cds in the year 2000+ they can not recapture their former sound anyways.

I do agree with you about some of the better songs not necessarily being hits but I don't care for Take You On A Saturday, Poorman's Son, or Burning Bridges. The non-hits songs they play in concert are not my favorites.

maybe the majority wasn't that excited about it because we already had the DEMOS with Dave singing the songs, there was only a few new ones, so it wasn't like getting anything new except JJ fans could here his versions. I still like the Demos better.

Slander, are you sure he was with all the members of Memphis Blood ? I read a really good review recently on someone who saw them.

There were only 3 members of Memphis Blood there and the lead guitarist was not one of them.

SilverGirl, you raise a point...why didn't the band perform Burning Heart live until now with McCauley? They have done the tease intro riffs but gone right into Eye....is it hard feelings over credits?
Anyone?

So you listen only once and decide? I was exactly the opposite. I heard it once and then played it a thousand times...well okay 500 times .

I became a Survivor fan because of Take you on a Saturday! Its such a killer tune. Well each his own! Speaking of that song, I didn't know Survivor existed till I heard EOTT. It was just when VS was released (and bought the tape) I discovered (as an added track-yes it was a pirated!) and noticed the last song TYOAS. Obviously that wasn't JJ. It blew my mind.

But Only when I was in Tower Records in '86 browsing through I noticed Premonition. First, Chevy Nights took me to a place Ive never been and then HAD to listen to the rest. TYOAS is my definition of Rock, the innuendos and the massive guitar riffs, pure HEAVEN for me. Dave was spectacular, because he does'nt shout, he had so much of depth then "ive been waiting, waiting WAITING!

How bout this tune? "walk on through the night, its all just game she plays so well, it time I know , the tide will be turning and she's gonna learn, shining light shine it bright..." note: FS and MD go into complementary mode - Love is on my side.

Then again, Marc D. brings so much to the plate when he lets loose. Survivor for me is FS and MD (they work seemlessly on the above tune btw). S/T may have been organic, but Premonition takes the take for the rough hard sound.
