Unbelievable how the magic gets through the screen even after more than 2 decades.

I've seen these a hundred times and that "thing" they had together never ceases to amaze me.

I agree. This is by far my favorite incarnation of this band.

That "demo" version is better than the album version...more rocking

This is the first time I've seen the Separate Ways one and I'm blown away. His voice was/is still the most amazing voice I've ever heard. My greatest hope is that he will decide to use it again!

I can hardly concentrate on work now!!! :D

That "Separate Ways" is a new one on me. Pure class! That first clip is Houston 1980, right? I have the full Tokyo '80 show on VHS but only Houston on audio. Nice to actually see some footage of it. There's just no whacking Perry.

I know, I know. I got the "Messin' With The Kid" bootleg of the show and it's my favourite Journey CD ever...unofficial though it is! I'll get that DVD sorted very soon I hope. The Tokyo show is great though, even though the cameramen give up during "I'm Cryin'"!!

The cameraman give up during "I'm Cryin'"? Then whoever gave you that video shorted you a song and a half. I have the whole show, including "I'm Cryin" and "Line of Fire". :D

IMO, that version of SW was the last time we heard the "higher voice" in Steve.....and the beginning of the "Frontiers - lower range" era.

Here's the "final product" - compare & contrast for yourselves...same key; MAJOR difference in delivery....brought in the "lower end":

That Seperate Ways video always makes me giggle.

I love Journey - LOVE them, but this vid is absolutely hilarious.

How can a keyboard player of Jonathan's calibre NOT play 'air' keyboards well?

My favourite bit of all is when Steve sings, 'chains that bind you' and grabs his arm to emphasise the lyric.

 Love it LOVE it!

That second one... Jon always reminds me of a cat in a litter box, and Steve just had a helluva sneeze. Maybe he was allergic to Jon.

SEE!
Its hilarious.

Whenever I hear the intro to this song, I start to grin.

And don't get me started on the woman who is striding about with her hands in her pockets.
She has such a determined look on her face, and yet......appears to be going nowhere. Unless its to buy some more blusher!

I would love to see the storyboard for this video. If indeed there was one.

I know music videos were in their infancy back then, but it's still pretty funny.

I loved the video taken in Japan, everytime I look at the Japan videos you guys link to (I don't have them) it seems like he sang sweeter to them, not so rock but really sincere. Do you hear it?

Hadn't thought of that, LOL! With that clip posted, it really emphasizes it. I will laugh 2 or 3 days just thinking about that! I remember my friends teasing me and making fun of SP grabbing his wrists.

In the TBF radio interviews with SP/JC/NS..........the separate ways video is brought up and Neal talks pretty nasty about her saying she looked like a pekinese that had been slammed in the wall. LOL These guys were having a ball......it is about a minute in, or so. Here is about an 8 minute soundbyte from it.

That was great - thankyou SO much for sharing.
You don't know how lucky you all are - we never get this stuff in the UK. Never did back in the day, either.
So it's really great that you share all your goodies with us.
Thanks again. :)
